Use the Event Browser to determine the starting point of trouble

  

View the event log in the Event Viewer for additional information to help determine and diagnose the cause of the startup problem. To view the events logged in the event log, perform the following steps:
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer .
  3. Start the Event Viewer snap-in in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

  4. In the console tree, expand Event Viewer, and then click the log you want to view. For example, click System Log or Application Log.
  5. In the details pane, double-click the event you want to view.

    To copy the details of the event, click Copy, using a program (such as Microsoft Word) in which you want to paste the event to open a new document, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
  6. To see a description of the previous or next event, press the up arrow or down arrow.
