Active Directory Backup and Recovery (1)

Through the introduction of my previous articles, I think you have a general understanding of the configuration of Active Directory and the role of domain controllers in the network. Of course, I wrote some articles about the operation. As for the principled things, I suggest that you go to the Internet to search for it or go to the bookstore to buy some official Microsoft textbooks, because the principle is really nothing. Written, to write is also a copy of the book, will be thought of by others that I am cheating. :) OK, then now everyone should know how important domain controllers are in domain architecture networks, so the crash of a domain controller is a nightmare for network administrators, so how should Active Directory be? To backup and restore? Here I will talk about this issue in detail, we generally divide the backup and recovery of Active Directory into two cases:

1, there is only one domain controller in the entire network;

First of all, I am not in favor of this situation in the network, which means that there are preferably two or more domain controllers in the network. Of course, some friends may say: Do you pay for the server? I declare first: I have no money. And now the bosses are very good, generally can be used, as for what to do? Of course, the network administrator came to think of a solution. Is it white to give you a salary? So in some networks, there is only one domain controller. In this case, backup is essential, and it is recommended to back up to the network and not back up to the local computer, because the backup is local. In case the server's hard drive burns down, then your backup will go with it, so there is no difference between it and no backup. So how do you back up? We need to use Ntbackup, the backup tool that comes with Windows 2003. Click “Start-Run”, enter: "Ntbackup” Enter, you can also click "Start-Program-Attachment-Backup", in fact, it is one thing, we can see the following picture:

Click on the "Advanced Mode" indicated by the arrow "Advanced Mode":

Click on the "Backup Wizard (Advanced)" marked with a red box, and a backup wizard will appear: < Br>

Please pay attention here, just click “Cancel”, so you can enter the backup tool controller so that you can have more customizable projects:

Here, you need to remind everyone However, if you just want to back up the Active Directory, then you only need to back up the system state. But I strongly recommend: It is best to do a backup of the entire C drive! To prevent losing some other data. Here, in order to save time, I just backed up the system data:

In the lower left corner of the above figure, "backup media or file name" can choose the backup path and support network backup. .

After selecting the storage path of the backup file, you can click “Start Backup”:

Click “ Start Backup”, the following screen will appear:

In the above options, click “ Plan & rdquo;, the system will prompt you to "Save the current backup settings", after the save is complete, the following screen will appear:

Enter the correct here Only the account and password with administrator rights can be entered. After inputting, click “OK”, a “Job assignment option” will appear. “<<>>

Click on “Properties” in the above screen:

Here, you can set up scheduled jobs so that the system can automatically back up according to the plan in the future, so you don't have to manually back up again and again. After the setup is complete, you will return to the screen just now:

Click this "Advanced":

Here, you can choose some such as verifying the integrity of the data after the backup is completed. Options, this one can choose according to the needs, mainly to introduce you to five backup types:

  • Normal: Back up all selected folders and files, does not depend on any tags, but will clear Tag
  • Copy: Backs up all selected folders and files, does not depend on any tags, but does not clear tags
  • Incremental: Backs up only selected and tagged folders and files , but will clear the mark;
  • Difference: only back up selected and marked folders and files without clearing the mark;
  • Daily: changes in daily, daily Files will be backed up;

    How to apply these five types of backups, how to use them together, please decide according to your actual situation. After configuring these backup parameters, you can perform backup operations:

    The entire backup time is still relatively long, about 20 minutes, of course, depending on the amount of data in your system. In my experimental environment, it will be OK in less than 10 minutes. After the backup is complete, we can find this backup file in the backup directory, the size is: 537M.
