Windows 2000 Internet Information Service Installation

When installing Windows 2000, if the user chooses to install IIS 5.0, the system will automatically create an HTTP site and an FTP site for use. The default Web site and FTP site publishing directory of IIS is also called the home directory. The home directory of the Web site is InetpubWwwroot, and the path of the FTP site's home directory is InetpubFtproot. For a Web site, if your local network has a naming resolution system such as DNS, other visitors can simply access your site by simply entering your computer name in the browser address drop-down list box; However, if you do not have a naming resolution system such as DNS on your local network, other visitors must enter your computer's IP address in the Address drop-down list box to access it. For FTP sites, if your local network has a naming resolution system such as DNS, then other visitors need to simply enter in the address drop-down list box: FTP://user's computer name, you can access you Site; however, if you do not have a naming resolution system such as DNS on your local network, other visitors must enter the IP address of the FTP//user computer in the Address drop-down list box to access it.
