Windows 2000 SP4 eight hot issues

Microsoft introduced the latest service pack Service Pack 4 (hereafter referred to as SP4) for Windows 2000 in July. The Chinese version is available for download on the Microsoft China website. After installing SP4, Windows 2000 will gain support for the USB 2.0 EHCI host controller and begin to support 802.1x, while the Windows Installer version will also be upgraded to 2.0. I believe many Windows 2000 users have already installed SP4. However, after the new patch is installed, some users have problems with the system, and here we provide some solutions. Need to remind everyone, when installing a new patch package, the system will ask " whether to archive", then you must select "file archive", so although it will take up some disk space, but if there is a problem in the future, you can restore to the installation The previous state, so it is still necessary to choose.

Barrier 1: When installing SP4, the message "Unable to verify the integrity of the Update.inf file, please confirm that the Cryptographic service is running", the installation cannot continue.

Solution: Please recall: Have you deleted the certificate in the system? This may be the cause of this problem. If you do delete it and have a backup, re-import all the certificates, which may resolve the above error. The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Right click on the desktop Internet Explorer icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up drop-down menu.

Step 2: Go to the Content tab in the pop-up Internet Properties window.

Step 3: Click the "Certificate" button and you will see the Certificate Manager. Please click the "Import" button to enter the certificate import wizard and select the backup file.

Step 4: Now install SP4 for Windows 2000, the error message should not appear again.

Some Windows XP users will also get the above error when installing the SP1 patch. The solution is simple, just open the Cryptographic service. First click "Start → Run", then type cmd and press Enter; then enter the following command:

net stop cryptsvc

ren catroot2 oldcatroot2

net start cryptsvc

Obstacle 2: After installing SP4, the user login script cannot be run.

Condition: This failure may occur when a group policy is included in the login script.

Solution:

Step 1: Log in to the system as an administrator, click Start → Run, type: gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Group Policy window.

Step 2: Click “Computer Configuration” and go to “Administrative Templates → System → Group Policy”.

Step 3: Double-click "Allow cross-forest user policies and roaming user profiles", select "Enable", and press "OK".

Step 4: Exit the Group Policy tool.
