I was so "mad" with Vista SP1

The Chinese version of Windows Vista SP1 is finally coming. Although it is under the prestigious name, it is actually difficult to vice versa. But when we treat it as a patch to calmly look at it, there are still many highlights. Although there is not much improvement in performance, the new experience it brings is still very characteristic. Many times, I found that with Windows Vista SP1, I was so crazy.

Defragmentation to Partitions

In Windows Vista, Disk Defragmenter cannot select partitions, only the “schedule" and "immediate" In this case, a defragmentation is required, ranging from tens of minutes to hours. Everything is different now. After upgrading to SP1, we are delighted to see that there is an additional option in the Disk Defragmenter window, "Select Volume", so that we can defragment a partition in a targeted manner. (Figure 1).

Select “Start → All Programs & Rarr; Attachments & Rarr; System Tools & Rarr; Disk Defragmenter & rdquo;, in the pop-up window, select the "Select Volume" option, in which D Partition check, OK. Now we can just sort out the D partition.

Non-system partitions are also encrypted

This update improves BitLocker Drive Encryption (BDE) with TMP encryption support, including flash encryption and PIN. Not only can the entire system partition be encrypted, but also encryption of non-system partitions can be created, and confidential data partitions can be created locally. After a partition with BitLocker Drive Encryption (BitLocker), all files stored on it are protected. And when we copy the new file into the partition, the file is automatically encrypted without us having to do anything else.

If our machine is repaired or stolen, someone else hangs the hard drive on another machine. If the computer detects that BitLocker detects a certain system condition, there may be a security risk (for example, a disk error, right BIOS changes or changes to any startup files), then BitLocker will lock the drive and require a specific BitLocker recovery password to unlock it so that no one can peek into our encrypted data.

Of course, we can temporarily turn it off temporarily by disabling BitLocker or permanently by decrypting the drive. The method is also very simple, select “ start → control panel → Bitlocker drive encryption & rdquo;, click “ close BitLocker & rdquo; option, pop-up "BitLocker drive encryption" dialog box, to decrypt the drive, click “Decrypt Volume” option, to temporarily disable BitLocker, click “Disable BitLocker Drive Encryption”.

Tips

Note that this feature requires not only hardware TMP support, but also keeps the file encrypted only when it is stored in an encrypted partition. If we copy the file to another drive or computer, the file will be decrypted.

Game Control is more casual

The Korean Game Rating Board (GRB) has been added to the game rating, making our control of grading more flexible. In this way, we have an option for the division of the game level in the use of "Parental Control".

Let's take a look at “son” users' network controls to see the "Parental Controls" & "Game Ratings" application. Set up a user's own account number & ldquo;son” for the new user in “Computer Management”. Open the “Contents” tab in the “Internet Options” dialog box, click the “Parental Controls” option, select the “Game Rating System” on the left, and select the new “Play Rating” in SP1. Institution (Korea Game Rating Board (GRB)), click the “OK” option to return to the previous level. Click the “son” user icon to bring up the Control Settings dialog box for “son”, check the “Allow parental control” option to enable the current setting <;Click “Windows Settings” In the item "Game", in the "Can you play the game?" check in the "& is" <;" """set game rating", in the pop-up "game limit" Check the box to "Block unrated games" and check the appropriate level according to the age of your child. Here we select “12+” and check all the check boxes below. (Figure 2). This system will automatically help you limit the level of the game your child plays.

You can also manipulate network folders offline.

If you like to use folder redirection and work in offline mode for a long time, then SP1 is really a boon.

First, set up a shared folder named "shared" on a server (192.168.1.41). On this Vista SP1, select the folder of the current user (here, "bannerpei"), right click, select the "Location" tab in the properties, and change the location to "192.168." 1.41share”, click the “OK" button so that the "bannerpei" user's "documents" folder can be redirected to the remote "share" shared folder.

After the folder redirection is completed, an icon of “Sync Center” appears in the tray area of the taskbar, which can be used to synchronize the local offline file copy with the remote folder. When your network fails, you can still use the offline files of this machine to operate, including renaming folders or deleting folders. When the network is restored, double-click "Sync Center" in the tray area to select &ldquo All syncs will allow the remote host to get updated data (Figure 3).

Search engines are free to change

Users are quite vocal about Microsoft's own search engine. Now after upgrading to SP1, everything will be fine. The system allows users to change search engines. Let's take a look at this new feature by taking the change to the famous desktop search engine “Google Desktop

Download and install “Google Desktop" download code CCE0815F201, after the installation is complete, we click on the "Win+F” key combination is no longer the default search component, but will be Open the search bar of “Google Desktop' on the desktop (press the twice “Ctrl” key to hide), but the "Start Search” box can only use the built-in search service. And if you install "Google Desktop" into the system, the combination of the "Win+F" is still a built-in search service for Windows.

Edit Comment

As you can see from the official announcement of Microsoft, if you update online, the update package size is only about 65MB, which means that the new update included in SP1 is only this. 65MB. Microsoft's strategy is not to focus on SP-style patches, but to provide updates at any time to give users a new experience.

In addition, you need to pay special attention. If you use the refresh brand BIOS and time stop to activate Windows Vista, then installing SP1 may cause system stability problems. Your system needs to be activated and you need to choose the correct activation method. If you don't want to upgrade to SP1 for various reasons, you can go to the Microsoft website to download the Windows Service Pack Blocker tool.
