Win XP Registry Backup Tips

  

Today we will use Windows XP as an example to introduce the use of Windows "Notepad" program to find, modify the registry data and use a simple batch script to back up the registry.

Two important branches:

1. User personal data [HKEY_CURRENT_USER]

This branch stores the personal preferences of the currently logged in user and the software used. Set up personal data such as. Whether you are a guest, a restricted user, an advanced user, or an administrator, you can modify your own personal registry data. The user's personal registry data is the items, sub-items, and value items contained in the left pane of the Registry Editor [HKEY_CURRENT_USER].

2. The core data of the system [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]

Only administrators can access the system registry data, which stores the important core setting data in the system. The system's registry data is the items, subkeys, and value items contained in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] displayed in the left pane of the Registry Editor.

Step 2: Right click on myreg.reg and sysreg.reg respectively , select "Edit" or "Send to → Notepad" (create the right-click menu "Send to → Notepad", you can copy the "Notepad" shortcut in the "Start" menu to "C:\\Documents andSettings\\username\\ SendTo folder, open the myreg.reg file with the Notepad program.

Step 3: Click the menu command "Edit → Find", enter the keyword to find the content, and click "Find Next". Find a data, delete, modify, and then press F3 to continue looking for the next data. Find and modify all data, and select the menu "File → Save" to save the registry file.
