Tip: Vista and XP dual system resource sharing

Nowadays, it is common to use Vista and XP to form a dual system, so that when you encounter compatibility problems under Vista, you can also go to XP to run. After installing the dual system, the space of the hard disk is much less and less, because the space required by the Vista system is very large. In fact, we can share some resources of the system, that is, the two operating systems use the same resource, so that Save a lot of space, and you can also install a lot less software.

Shared Virtual Memory

Microsoft's operating system has a huge "Pagefile.sys" file, which is a virtual memory file, which is available in the root of the system partition. In fact, we share a virtual memory file when using Windows Vista and XP dual system, which can reduce the space occupied by the system.

Log in to the Vista system, right click on the "Computer" icon on the desktop to select the "Properties" item, click on the "Advanced System Settings" on the left in the properties window that opens, the "System Properties" window will open. Click the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Settings" button under the "Performance" option, then click the "Change" button under "Virtual Memory" in the pop-up window (Figure 1).

In the "Virtual Memory" window that pops up, remove the checkmark in front of "Automatically manage the paging file size of all drives", then select the partition where the Vista system is located, and then select the following " No paging file", then click the "Settings" button. Then select "C drive", then select "System management size", click the "Settings" button, this will set Vista virtual memory to the Windows XP installation partition (Figure 2).

Finally, we click the "OK" button in the "Virtual Memory" window, a pop-up window will pop up, indicating that the "Pagefile.sys" already exists on the C drive. If you want to replace it, click " Yes, the button is fine.
