Modify Windows 98 System Icon Prompt Function

You may have noticed that in Windows 98, just put the mouse on the desktop, My Computer, Recycle Bin, My Documents, IE, etc., the system will display The role of the icon (such as the mouse will be placed on my computer, the system will give " display the contents of the computer " prompts, as shown), which facilitates the user's management of the system. However, you may not know that Windows 98's prompts can be modified. We can modify it by the following methods:

1) Start Windows 98 Registry Editor

2 ) Expand the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, CLSID, {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} branches in the Registry Editor.

3) At this point we will find a string value named "InfoTip" in the {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} branch, the content of which is "display the contents of the computer" ;, obviously, it is the prompt message on the mouse "My Computer", we only need to modify the content to achieve the purpose of modifying the prompt information.

4) Use a similar method to modify the display information of other related system icons (see the example above for the serial number of the system icon).

5) Execute the "registration" menu"exit" command to close the Registry Editor.

This way, the display information of the Windows 98 system icon will change according to our requirements, is it very good? In addition, some users with slower computer speeds may wish to turn off this feature to speed up the daily operation. This is not difficult, we just need to start the Windows 98 Registry Editor, and then expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software in the Registry Editor. , Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Explorer, Advanced branch, and finally double-click the "ShowInfoTip" DWORD value, open the "Edit DWORD Value" dialog box, and change its value from 1 to 0. After that, the system will not display an explanation of the meaning of the system icon, thus meeting the needs of the user.
