Using Fax in Microsoft Windows XP

  
        The Microsoft Windows XP Fax Service provides full faxing capabilities, including fax sending, receiving, tracking, and monitoring. To use the fax service, your computer must have the modem installed correctly and connected to the phone line, then perform the following software configuration. Installing Fax Components
Fax is not installed by default during Windows XP installation. To install the fax, please insert your Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive. The following interface will appear. Click the second option "Install Optional Windows Components", then the following dialog box will appear, select the fax service, and click " Next step." Windows begins to install the fax service Finally, on the "Complete the 'Windows Components Wizard'" screen, click Finish. You can also click Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel to open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box. Click Add/Remove Windows Components to launch the Windows Components Wizard. The other steps are the same as above. Configuring the fax service
After installing the fax service, you need to configure it when you first start up 1. Click Start, select Printers and Faxes, as shown below 2. In the dialog that opens, double-click the fax icon . The Fax Configuration Wizard will be launched (if the modem is not installed, the Modem Setup Wizard may be run first, here omitted). 3. On the Welcome to the Fax Configuration Wizard screen, click Next, the Sender Information window appears, type the information you want to appear on the cover page of the fax, and then click Next. 4. On the Select Fax Send or Receive Device screen, click the modem and other options you want to use in the Please select a fax device list, and then click Next. 5. Specify Routing Options and select a printer or folder to receive faxes. 6. Click Finish to launch the Fax Console (you can change the existing fax configuration by selecting the Configure Fax command from the Tools menu of the Fax Console) . Send a fax
After you have installed the fax service, you can start the fax console to send a fax, or you can send a fax directly. As shown in the figure below, you can follow the wizard to complete the sending process. During the process of sending a fax, the Fax Monitor button displays the dialing, answering, and sending status, and displays the results of the transmission. If the transmission fails, it will be resent according to the specified settings. Receiving a fax
You can set up Windows XP to receive faxes automatically or manually. If you choose to receive the fax manually, when the call comes in, a message balloon appears in the notification bar. After clicking the following picture, the fax monitor will start receiving the fax; if you select automatic reception, you can specify the number of rings at the same time. After this ringing, the fax monitor appears and begins accepting faxes. To set up fax reception as follows
1. Click “Start” and select “Printers and Faxes” 2. Mail Click the fax icon in the window that opens, select the Properties command 3. Select “Device Tab”, here You can view the settings for the fax reception method. 4. Click the "Properties" button and select the "Receive" tab in the dialog box that opens to set up monitoring and tracking faxes.
You can enable the fax notification function of the local fax machine so that Notify fax events while you work. Fax notifications track a variety of fax activities, including the progress of incoming and outgoing faxes, and the success or failure of sending or receiving faxes. There are two types of notification methods: visual notifications, including icons in the notification area, balloon icons displayed next to the icons, and "Fax Monitor." Audio notification. You can play a sound to indicate that the following fax event has occurred: Fax Ringing Receive New Fax Sending a fax The fax detected an error similar to an email, a sent fax, a fax to be sent, an incoming (received but not processed, Faxes and received faxes that have not been printed are managed by the fax console for tracking purposes, as shown in the following figure. Alternatively, you can edit the fax cover page or send a fax to Microsoft Office. For other applications, just use the print command. Select Fax to send.
