System Tips: The Secret Behind the Windows XP System Boot Screen

Every time you start Windows XP, a boot screen with the Windows version number is usually displayed, and it takes a while to enter the desktop. Want to know what the system is doing during this time? In fact, it is very simple, to see the secret behind the boot screen, just modify the BOOT.INI file.

1. Right click on the "My Computer" icon, select "Properties", open the "System Properties" dialog box, go to the "Advanced" tab, click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" column, then Click the "Edit" button in the pop-up form, the system will automatically call Notepad to open the BOOT.INI file under the system disk.

2. Modify the line in the OPERTING SYSTEMS section of the file about Windows XP startup, usually "/fastdetect" at the end, followed by the " /sos" parameter (with a space before "/"), save Close the file and then click "OK" to close all dialogs.

3. Restart the computer and you will find that the original welcome screen disappears. Instead, the system reads the file, displays the system configuration and version information, and checks the disk partition at boot time.

Tip: Since BOOT.INI is hidden and read-only by default, follow the method in step 1. The read-only attribute of BOOT.INI file will be automatically removed to facilitate modification. Of course, you can also remove its read-only property and edit it with Notepad. However, it is recommended to restore the hidden and read-only properties of this file in time to avoid the file being corrupted and affecting system startup.
