Master tricks: easy to play Windows XP taskbar

Meet the Windows XP taskbar every day, but there are a lot of tricks you don't necessarily know, let us revisit this old friend today!

1. The taskbar is big "Move"

In the previous version of Windows, we can smash the taskbar (15) and then move it in the XP. No matter how it moves. On the taskbar, it is stubbornly unwilling to move. In fact, it is not difficult to move the taskbar. Right-click on the taskbar and remove the "Hold Taskbar" tick in the menu.

2. Time display "Full version"

Doesn't Windows XP display the date, week, top/afternoon, clock and minute completely? Why does the taskbar only display clocks and minutes by default? When you want the "Full Version" time, first open the "Control Panel" and select the "Region and Language" setting, then click the "Customize" button, change the time format in the time property page to "tt h:mm:ss" or "tt hh:mm:ss", then use the mouse to pull the taskbar up, then you can see that all the time is fully displayed (Figure 1).

As shown in Figure 1:

3. Taskbar "Desktop" Show

After running multiple applications, There are a lot of windows to cover the desktop. At this time, if you want to open the shortcut on the desktop, you must minimize all the windows before you can use the desktop. There is actually a way for you to quickly open the shortcut on the desktop, right click on the blank space on the taskbar, select the "Desktop" command in the "Toolbar" menu, right click on the taskbar again, then the desktop The "Show Text" and "Show Title" items are removed, and all shortcuts on the desktop will become icons on the taskbar.

4. Disable "Context Menu"

Does anyone (especially a rookie) tamper with your computer and mess up the taskbar if you disable the "context menu" on the taskbar? This problem does not occur. Run "gpedit.msc" to open the group policy, click "User Configuration", "Administrative Template", "Taskbar and [Start] Menu", then double-click the "Block Access to the Taskbar's Context Menu" item in the right window (eg Figure 2), select "Enabled" in the pop-up window "Settings".

As shown in Figure 2:

In addition, we can also modify this registry to achieve this function, enter the following path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\ Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\PolicIEs\\", create a new DWord value "NoTrayContextMenu" under the "Explorer" key value, and set the value to "1" to block access to the context menu of the taskbar.

5. Specify the number of "group similar" windows

The group similar taskbar function can be automatically grouped when too many task windows are opened, and multiple windows opened by the same program will be folded into one. Button. We can specify the number of windows per group by modifying the registry. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced", and create a new DWord value "TaskbarGroupSize" in the right window, and set it to the desired number of windows.

This function may cause some trouble when switching between multiple task windows. For example, when using QQ to chat with multiple people, when using IE to browse multiple web pages, it is actually very simple to disable this function. Click on the "Taskbar" blank, select "Properties" in the pop-up menu, and remove the "Group similar taskbar button" option in the "Taskbar" tab.

6. Change the system tray

The icon of the system tray can be changed. You can choose not to display the time through the "Taskbar Properties" window, through the "Multimedia" property in the "Control Panel" The volume control icon can be turned off, and the input method indicator can be hidden through the Input Method Properties setting dialog box. The power indicator icon can be set via the Power Management option in the Control Panel.

Some software will automatically add icons to the tray area, but the software will be loaded, the system tray will be very crowded, and the startup speed will be slowed down. The easiest way is to configure the system. The startup of some software is prohibited in the "Startup" option of the utility. You can also disable it by modifying the registry, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\ Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\ Current Version\\Run" and delete the item value of the corresponding icon in the right window.
