Since this upgrade is for the feature-rich Win8 Professional system, it is compared to the entry-level Win8. The upgrade will not be "free", consumers need to pay a fee to get the coupon, but it is not clear the amount of the fee. The upgrade plan begins on June 2, 2012, and is generally consistent with Microsoft's release of the Win8 Release Preview version, which ends in January 2013. Microsoft hopes to capture the student back-to-school season through a system upgrade plan in early summer, but Win8 may not be available during that time.
