WinXP replaces Win2K as the preferred operating system for developers

  
        Research firm Evans Data recently released a survey report that Microsoft's Windows XP operating system has finally replaced Windows 2000 as the main target of developers.

According to the survey data, developers targeting Windows XP have increased by 150% compared to last year. However, the number of people developing around Windows 2000 has dropped by 25%. These statistics were based on the Evans Data 2004 Spring North American Development Survey, during which Evans Data visited 500 North American developers.

Evans survey director Brian Cooper said in a statement that, Windows XP is still relatively slow development in the investigation in the spring of 2001, while the 2002 autumn survey shows that the trend of its rapid growth.

Evans Data survey also found that, Visual Basic.NET has been steadily closing in Visual Basic, it is supported by the majority of developers. Researchers hope that the development of VB.NET is expected to surpass VB for the first time next year. It is expected that VB usage will drop by 30% next year and VB.Net usage will increase by 30%.

In addition, Windows 2003 support rate also rose more than 40%, many developers believe that it is the most secure operating system.

At the same time, the development of web services very quickly. According to the Evans Data survey, 34% of developers generally develop application development of web services, which is 25% higher than half a year ago. Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) is still the most widely used technology in web services development.
