Windows File Dialog Usage Tips

The number of times the user interacts with the Open File dialog box under Windows must be quite a lot. In the course of using some software, we will use the Windows standard open dialog box to open the file. However, we have some small tricks in using the Windows 2000 Open File dialog box to make full use of these tips to improve the efficiency of our computer use, while still achieving some unexpected features.

1, under the rapid addition of a specific file

general, specific software provides specific format file open function, such as WPS2000 turned on by default * .WPS file when you open the file, Word
2000 opens the *.doc file by default.... However, some softwares are different. For example, when we use WinZip to join files, it does not know which files users want to join, so the default is "open all files *.*", if we want to add specific files one by one It is a bit more troublesome to press the Ctrl key and then click to select it. In fact, at this time, we just need to enter the pass box in the file name box of the open file to select a specific file. If I want to add all the *.txt files under a folder to WinZip, open it in WinZip. In the "Add File" window, click the "File Name" item and enter *.txt. After the carriage return, all the files with the extension txt in the folder will be displayed. Click on the selected file and press Ctrl+. A, click the Add button and all the txt files are added (see the attached figure add.bmp).

2, using the context menu for file management

many people usually only select the file in the File Open dialog box, in fact, when you select the file, then right-click look , how, except for a "selected" item in bold (this is because the default action in Windows is in bold), and the rest of the file is right-clicked with Windows Explorer. It's exactly the same (see the attached file conmenu.bmp), where we can delete, copy, and paste files so that we don't have to go into the resource manager to manage the files. If some system software is installed, they may also appear in the menu, and we can select them to achieve the purpose of quickly using the corresponding software, which is very convenient.

Note to the author: The above two techniques are applicable to all Windows programs, such as adding specific attachment files to FoxMail and The Bat.

3, the order to open multiple files

general we use to open the Windows file box to open the file, sometimes need to open multiple files, then as long as we first select the first file, Press Shift again, click on the last file, but I found that this method can not open the file sequentially, but must first select the last file, press the Shift key, and then click the first file to be able to Open (how, a little incredible!). For example, the image file on VC
D is placed under the MPEGAV folder of the VC
D disc with the file with the extension DAT, such as AVSEQ01.DAT, AVSEQ02.DAT on the disc. , AVSEQ03.DAT, AVSEQ04.DAT, AVSEQ05.DAT...AVSEQ16.DAT A total of 16 files, if you first click on the first file AVSEQ01.DAT, then press the Shift key, click on the last file AVSEQ16.DAT, then open The order is AVSEQ16.DAT, AVSEQ02.DAT, AVSEQ03.DAT, AVSEQ04.DAT, AVSEQ05.DAT...AVSEQ15.DAT, AVSEQ01.DAT, and AVSEQ16.DAT in the first point, and AVSEQ01.DAT in AVSEQ01.DAT, AVSEQ02.DAT, AVSEQ03.DAT, AVSEQ04.DAT, AVSEQ05.DAT...AVSEQ16.DAT sequentially opens these files. (See attached file open.bmp)

4. Double-click to open the file

When we open a file using the Open File dialog box of Windows, you don't have to select a file first, then click "Open" button, just double-click this file. This is because the "Open" button at this time is the default button on the dialog.

5, part of the program to open the dialog has extended functionality

do not know if you noticed, different software may be different in the Open File dialog box, there are some programs of the Open dialog box Not only are there two simple buttons, "open" and "cancel", but with extended functionality, some features may be more powerful. At this time, we can use the corresponding functions. As shown in import.bmp, the dialog window is imported for the material in AuthorWare. There is a + button in this dialog box. Clicking this button will open the extended dialog window of the imported material. We can select the file on the left. A material file in the box, and click the "Add" button on the right to add it, or you can click the "Add All" button to introduce all the material files in the file box. If you think which file you don't want to introduce, just Select it in the right window and click the "Remove" button. Let's see if this feature is much more powerful than the normal Import function.
