Method 2: In In Windows XP, run "Cmd" and press Enter. Enter "systeminfo > systeminfo.txt" in the command prompt window and press Enter. 1. Open the registry editor Expand the [HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\] branch, create a branch named "KB100000" under it, enter the branch, and double-click the "default" string in the right window, and Name the value "This Key is required to STOP Windows update from prompting for an install", exit the registry editor and restart the computer.

2. Open the Registry Editor and expand [ ,null,null,3],HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Updates\\Windows P\\SPx] branch (if your system is Windows XP SP1, then "x" is "2", the system is Windows XP SP2, then "x" is "3"), in Delete the key named "KB100000" in its subkey, and finally restart the system to take effect.
