The user can modify the configuration, which can be easily done by using the Registry Editor and clicking the mouse. The system administrator can also complete remote management of the system through the registry. Therefore, the user has mastered the registry, that is, he has mastered the control of the computer configuration, and the user only needs to use the registry to adjust the working state of his computer to the best.

The user's folder, screen color, and control panel settings are all stored here. This information is associated with the user's profile. This item is sometimes abbreviated as "HKCU". HKEY_USERS contains the root of all user profiles on the computer. HKEY_CURRENT_USER is a child of HKEY_USERS. HKEY_USERS is sometimes abbreviated as "HKU". HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE contains computer-specific configuration information (for any user). This item is sometimes abbreviated as "HKLM". A subkey of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software. The information stored here ensures that the correct program can be opened when opening a file using Windows Explorer. This item is sometimes abbreviated as "HKCR". Starting with Windows 2000, this information is stored under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER. The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \\Software\\Classes entry contains default settings that can be applied to all users on the local computer. The HKEY_CURRENT_USER \\Software\\Classes entry contains settings that override the default settings and apply only to interactive users. The HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT entry provides a registry view that combines information from the two sources above. binary value (REG_BINARY): raw binary data. Most of the hardware component information is stored as binary data and displayed in hexadecimal format in the Registry Editor.

DWORD Value (REG_DWORD): Data represented by a 4-byte long (32-bit integer) number. Many of the parameters for device drivers and services are of this type and are displayed in the Registry Editor in binary, hexadecimal or decimal format. The associated values ​​are DWORD_LITTLE_ENDIAN (the least significant byte is at the lowest bit address) and REG_DWord_BIG_ENDIAN (the least significant byte is at the highest bit address).

Extensible string value (REG_EXPAND_SZ): A variable-length data string. This type of data includes variables that are resolved when the program or service uses the data.

Multi-String Value (REG_MULTI_SZ): Multiple strings. A value that contains a list or multiple values ​​that a user can read is usually this type. Each entry is separated by a space, a comma, or other mark.

String value (REG_SZ): A text string of fixed length.

Binary Value (REG_RESOURCE_LIST): A series of nested arrays that store a list of resources used by a hardware device driver or a physical device it controls. This data is detected by the system and written to the \\ResourceMap tree and displayed as a binary value in hexadecimal format in the Registry Editor.
Binary value (REG_RESOURCE_REQUIREMENTS_LIST): A series of nested arrays used to store a list of possible hardware resources available to the device driver or a physical device it controls. The system writes a subset of this list to \\ResourceMap tree. This data is detected by the system and displayed as a binary value in hexadecimal format in the Registry Editor.

binary value (REG_FULL_RESOURCE_DESCRIPTOR): a series of nested arrays, for storing a list of resources used by the physical hardware devices. This data is detected by the system and written to the \\HardwareDescription tree and displayed as a binary value in hexadecimal format in the Registry Editor.
None (REG_NONE): There is no specific type of data. This data is written to the registry by the system or application and displayed as a binary value in hexadecimal format in the Registry Editor.

Link (REG_LINK): A Unicode string that names a symbolic link.

QWORD Value ( REG_QWord ): Data represented by a 64-bit integer number. This data is displayed as a binary value in the Registry Editor and was originally used in Windows 2000.
