- Recovery
Windows XP provides many ways to restore the system, including the "system restore" mentioned above, the use of emergency recovery disk and backup functions, and of course, we are familiar with the "safe mode", etc. method.
1, system restore method
We mentioned above the role of system restore and the method of creating a system restore point, when the system has problems, you can use system restore to restore the system to the state when there is no problem before, the method is:
Open the "Start" menu, select "Programs" --> "Accessories" --> "System Tools" --> "System Restore" command, open the System Restore Wizard, and then select "Recover my computer Go to an earlier time, click the "Next" button, select the system restore point, click "Next" to perform a system restore.
Note: Although System Restore is supported in Safe Mode, the computer is running in Safe Mode and System Restore does not create any restore points. Therefore, when the computer is running in safe mode, the restore operation performed cannot be undone.
2, restore the driver
If you find that the hardware does not work after installing or updating the driver, you can use the restore function of the driver. To do this:
In the Device Manager, select the hardware you want to restore the driver, double-click it to open the Properties window, select the Drivers tab, and then select the Back to Driver button.
3, use "safe mode"
If the computer does not start properly, you can use "safe mode" or other boot options to start the computer, after successful we can change some configuration to eliminate system failure, such as can use Said "system restore", "return driver" and use the backup file to restore the system.
The user wants to start the computer using "Safe Mode" or other boot options, press the F8 key when the boot menu appears, then use the arrow keys to select the boot option and press the Enter key. The following is a description of the advanced boot options for Windows XP: Basic Safe Mode: Start Windows XP with only the most basic system modules and drivers, no network support, loaded drivers and modules for mouse, monitor, keyboard , memory, basic video, and default system services, the boot log can also be enabled in secure mode.
Security mode with network connection: Windows XP is started only with basic system modules and drivers, and network support is loaded, but PCMCIA network is not supported. The security mode with network connection can also enable the startup log.
Enable boot log mode: Generate the boot log file of the driver and service being loaded. The log file is named Ntbtlog.txt and is saved in the root directory of the system.
Enable VGA mode: Start Windows XP with the basic VGA (video) driver. If the reason why Windows XP does not start properly is because a new video card driver is installed, this mode is very useful, other security modes. Also use only basic video drivers.
Last time the correct configuration: Using Windows XP, the last shutdown is the saved settings (registration information) to start Windows XP, only used in the case of configuration errors, can not solve the problem caused by driver or file corruption or loss When the user selects the "Last Known Good Configuration" option, the modifications and system configuration made after the last correct configuration will be lost.
Directory Service Recovery Mode: Restore Active Directory information for domain controllers. The option is for Windows XP domain controllers only and not for Windows XP Professional or member servers.
Debug mode: When starting Windows XP, the debugging information is sent to another computer through the serial cable, so that the user can solve the problem.
4, use the emergency recovery disk repair system
If "safe mode" and other boot options can not successfully start Windows XP, we can consider using the recovery console, to use the recovery console, please use the CD driver Restart the computer by installing the CD in the operating system. When prompted during the text mode setting, press R to start the recovery console, press C to select the "Resume Console" option, if the system has multiple operating systems installed, select the system to be restored, and then enter the management as prompted. Password, and enter the operating commands supported by the system at the system prompt. From the recovery console, you can access the drivers on your computer, and then you can make the following changes to start the computer: enable or disable device drivers or services; Copy files from the operating system's installation CD, or copy files from other removable media, for example, you can copy important files that have been deleted; create a new boot sector and a new master boot record (MBR) if you are from an existing sector You may need to do this if there is a problem with the startup. The Recovery Console is available for all versions of Windows XP.
5, automatic system failure recovery
Under normal circumstances, you should create an automatic system recovery (ASR) set (that is, we said the system file backed up by creating an emergency recovery disk), as the entire system when the system fails Part of the recovery plan. ASR should be the last resort for system recovery. It is only used after you have exhausted other options (such as safe mode startup and last correct configuration). When prompted in the Set Text Mode section, you can access by pressing F2. Restore part. ASR will read the disk configuration in the file it created and will restore all disk signatures, volumes and minimal disk partitions required to boot the computer (ASR will attempt to restore all disk configurations, but in some cases, ASR does not It is possible to restore all disk configurations), then ASR installs Windows Lite and automatically initiates the restore using the backup created by the ASR wizard.
6, restore regular data
When Windows XP data corruption, users can use the "Backup" tool's restore wizard to restore the entire system or restore corrupted data. To restore regular data, open the Welcome tab of the Backup tool window, click the Restore button, go to the Restore Wizard dialog box, and click the Next button to open the Restore Project dialog box. After selecting to restore the file or restore the device, click the "Next" button to continue the wizard.
If you run out of the above method, the system still can not be restored, then there is no way, but Microsoft also provides another very simple and effective method - reinstall the system, haha.
