Easily solve the double hard drive letter error

After installing the second hard disk, the drive letter of the old hard disk and the new hard disk will cross the drive letter, there will be a lot of trouble when calling the file, even Cause some programs to be unusable.

First, the hard disk method

Set the two hard disks to the master-slave relationship and connect correctly, then boot into the BIOS setup program. In the "Standard CMOS Features" option, the disk parameter item will be set to “NONE”, and the slave disk will be masked. Set the master disk to boot the hard disk in the “Advanced BIOS Features” option. After saving the settings and restarting, the hard drive letter will be arranged in the order of the partitions of the master and slave disks. The disadvantage of this method is that the disk can only be used normally under Windows, and the slave disk cannot be recognized in pure DOS mode.

Second, re-zoning method

After setting up the master-slave relationship and correctly connecting the hard disk, use any partitioning software to divide all the disks into logical partitions, then the disk drive letter Will be placed in the order behind the main disk.

Third, repair WindowsXP

Note: The set drive name can only be unused; when the setting is completed, a warning window will pop up, saying that the operation may cause the drive to stop, ignore it, click “OK” Just fine.

Fourth, use PartitionMagic

PartitionMagic (Partition Magic) can re-partition, format, copy partition, etc., use it to modify the drive letter as follows:
