The partitioning application of the disk in XP

Compared with the bitter and incomprehensible partitioning operation in the DOS environment. In Windows XP, a more efficient and flexible partitioning operation can be performed on the hard disk by using a graphical interface and a user-friendly operation mode. Not only that, borrowing the powerful disk partition management function of Windows XP can also enhance the reasonable use of disk partitions and effectively improve the read and write speed of disks. 1. Partition and format the hard drive in one minute Right click on “My Computer”, select the <;Manage” command. In the "Computer Management" window that opens, expand the "Computer Management" &rarquo;“Storage”→“Disk Management” item. After that, you can see the partition status of the current hard disk in the right pane. Right-click on the disk space of “Unsigned” and select the “Create New Disk Partition” command. In the disk partition wizard window that pops up, select the partition type as “Extended partition” and click “Next” to enter the capacity of the new partition. Then set the disk file format of the partition and check “&ldquo ; do not format the & rdquo; item, and finally click the & ldquo; complete & rdquo; button to complete the partition operation. Then open "My Computer", right click on the new partition, select the "Format" & rdquo; command, use the quick format, you can complete the partition to format all operations within one minute. 2. Folding and merging disk partitions If a partition on a hard disk is too large, split it into two partitions. First save all the files in the disk partition to other partitions. Then right click on the partition in "Disk Management" and select the “Delete Logical Partition” command. After confirming, the partition is deleted. At this time, the partition will be recognized as "unsigned" disk space in the list. After that, as in the above operation, on the disk space of “Unsigned”, use the “New Disk Partition” command to set the space size of the newly created partition and format the newly created two partitions. When you need to merge two partitions, you can save all the data and use the “Delete Logical Partitions” command to get two blank “unassigned” partitions. Then select the “ unassigned & rdquo; partition, right click and select the "New Disk Partition" command to complete the partition consolidation. 3. Compressing partitions increases disk space If a disk partition is tight and the data in the partition is not frequently read, the partition can be compressed to "add" space. Since the compressed partition must be in the NTFS disk format, for partitions using the FAT32 disk format, first execute the "Convert drive letter /FS:NTFS” command in the command prompt window to convert the partition to NTFS disk. format. After that, right click on the partition you want to compress and select the “Properties” command. In the window that opens, select the “General” tab and check the "Compress drive to save disk space" item. After the window is closed, the system will perform a disk compression operation. Upon completion, the remaining space of the partition will be increased.

If the row partition expansion in the remaining space is insufficient a partition, the partition can also use the expansion mode 4. order to increase the available space. In the Command Prompt window, execute the “Diskpart” command to start the command line disk management tool. Then execute the “list partition” command to display the current system partition list. Assuming that you want to delete the third partition and expand the second partition, you can execute the command “Select Parttition 3” to make the third partition have the focus attribute, and then execute “Delete Partition” to delete the third partition. Then execute the “Select partition 2” command to make the second partition have the focus attribute, and then execute the <;Extend” command to automatically add the previously deleted partition space to the second partition. If the second partition to be expanded adopts the NTFS disk format, no data will be lost after the expansion. Finally, execute the "Exit" command and return to “My Computer"; you can see that the hard disk partition has been expanded. 5. Double the hard disk transfer speed If there are two hard disks, with the dynamic volume function in Windows XP, the hard disk transfer speed can be greatly improved. First, convert all partitions in both hard drives to NTFS disk format. Then open the “Disk Management” window, right click on the two hard disks, and select the “Convert to Dynamic Disk” command in the pop-up menu to convert both hard disks into dynamic disks. Right click on the black area after the second hard drive and select the “New Volume” command. In the dialog that opens, click “Next”, there are 3 options, select “striped volume”. Click “Next”, the second hard drive will appear in the "Selectable" list, in the space below, enter the space to control a single hard disk. Click “Next" to assign a drive letter to the created partition. Click “Next”, choose to use the NTFS disk format to quickly format the partition, and finally click “Complete”. At this time, the gray area displayed in the partition list of the "Disk Management" window is the newly created striped volume. Open “My Computer", you will see the newly created partition, when you read the data in this partition, you can achieve nearly twice the data transfer rate. Using the same steps, the remaining space is newly created as a striped volume, which can enjoy the high data transfer rate advantage brought by the disk array in disguise.

If the row partition expansion in the remaining space is insufficient a partition, the partition can also use the expansion mode 4. order to increase the available space. In the Command Prompt window, execute the “Diskpart” command to start the command line disk management tool. Then execute the “list partition” command to display the current system partition list.
