At the beginning of the installation, the installer will automatically call the Scandisk program to detect the computer system, and then enter the Windows98 installer after the test passes. The Windows 98 installer enters the "Collecting computer related information" interface and checks the system to ensure that there is enough hard disk space to install Windows 98. After the completion, you can follow the prompts, click the "Next" button, select the "Typical Installation" mode, enter the user name and the unit name, enter the user area selection window, the selection of the area is mainly to determine the operating system time and date, You can select "China" in the list and click the "Next" button. During the installation process, the installer will ask the user whether to create a boot disk. If you don't have your own Windows 98 boot disk, then it is recommended to select the "OK" button to create, otherwise click the "Cancel" button. In the next process, we don't have to worry about it. The installer will copy the data to the hard disk and complete the final installation process. After the file is copied, you will be prompted to restart the computer. After rebooting, you can directly enter the Windows98 installer and display the remaining time on the left. After waiting patiently, you will find that Windows98 has been installed into the system.

Tip: Usually when we install Windows98, we usually enter the Setup command in the command line to install, then run Scandisk, scan the disk, make the boot disk, install the release notes, etc. If you plan to use Windows Faster installation, you can use some parameters when using the Setup command, in order to achieve the purpose of quickly installing Windows98. Installation of Windows MeWindowsMe can be divided into two types: upgrade installation and full installation. WindowsMe can be upgraded directly from Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 98SE, but cannot be upgraded from Windows 3.x. Windows Me provides three installation methods. One is to use the boot disk to start the computer, and enter the installation directory to execute the Setup program. Note that you need to run and load the disk cache program Smartdrv.exe before executing the installer. The second way is to use the Windows Me CD to boot and automate the installer. The third way is to run the Windows Me installer on the current operating system, such as running the installer directly on the Windows 98 system. Regardless of which installation method is used, the operation process is basically the same, similar to the Windows 98 installer described earlier. If your computer's main frequency is lower than 150MHz, then there will be a prompt "Cannot install Windows on the computer, because the processor is lower than 150MHz, click 'OK' to exit the installer" prompt, don't worry, you can enter the command: setup /nm can be installed. In addition, the Windows Me installer also has some parameters (same as Windows98).

Installing Windows 2000 and Windows XP Windows 2000 system installation can be directly installed under DOS and Windows 9x systems. After installing the Windows 2000 installation disk in the CD-ROM drive, the Windows 2000 installation program will be automatically run. After selecting a new installation, you will be asked to enter the product serial number, then you can start copying the installation files and restart your computer. In the restarted interface, press the Enter key to start installing Windows 2000, and enter the installation directory selection window, and select the drive letter you need to install. In the next window, you will be asked to choose the format of the file system. In order to effectively use the performance of Windows 2000 system, it is recommended to select "convert disk partition to NTFS". After finishing, press Enter to complete the Windows 2000 system according to the wizard prompt. installed. There are three ways to install Windows XP, namely, upgrade installation, dual system coexistence installation, and new installation. Its installation method is similar to the Windwos2000 system installation method, so I will not introduce it here.

If you are installing Windows 2000/XP in DOS mode, you first need to run the Smartdrv.exe command, so that the installer can be installed quickly, otherwise the waiting time will be very long. First, we use the Windows98 boot disk to boot the computer into DOS mode, and then execute Smartdrv.exe (if the file is not available on the floppy disk, it can be obtained from the Command directory under the Windows98 installation directory). Then execute the Winnt.exe file in the i386 directory on the Windows 2000/XP installation CD. Remember: This is not the implementation of Setup.exe, but Winnt.exe. The subsequent operation is relatively simple. Install multiple operating systems Install Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on the computer at the same time. If you want to let WindowsMe system coexist with Windows2000, the easiest way is to install WindowsMe first, then use Windows98 boot disk or boot from CD, install Windows2000, choose "new installation" mode during installation. If you plan to let Windows98, Windows2000 and WindowsXP coexist, you can first install Windows98, then install Windows2000 under Windows98, and finally install WindowsXP under Windows2000.
