How to establish a cloud environment virtual server connection?

Building cloud-based data and application servers typically requires creating a remote connection to the enterprise local network or desktop to virtual server instance.

There are at least three different ways to connect to a virtual server in a cloud environment. For example, we will introduce Amazon Web Services, VMware hosting provider Terremark, and a provider called Cloudshare.com, where companies can host three virtual servers for free.

Cisco VPN client

If you have already started to implement cloud computing, chances are you're using one of these three tools to connect to your server. Perhaps you are more accustomed to using Windows Remote Desktop or Secure Shell (SSH) to remotely manage physical servers. If you've never used the three tools above, take a look at which virtual machine resources can use them to connect to the communication.

Connecting via VPN

The most common and direct way is to use a virtual private network (VPN). Many cloud providers use a similar Cisco AnyConnect VPN client that can be launched in the browser by plugging in an Active-X or Java plugin. This creates a VPN between the desktop PC and the cloud network. Some VPN users are confused about which browser to use, I recommend using IE7 or Firefox 3. The browser version that is too new or too long may be with AnyConnect and your provider. Service compatibility is not enough.

Amazon VPC console

Amazon Web Services (AWS) have their own Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), can establish a VPN network between the enterprise and the cloud through it, this method Very useful, especially for deploying Amazon-based on-demand private cloud applications.

After that, connect to the VPC service through the AWS Web management console. You need to go through some steps to establish a connection and then download the configuration file for the VPN gateway. Amazon VPC only supports some Cisco and Juniper VPN gateways, such as J-series, SSG, ISG, and ISR series.

After you establish a VPN connection and have a server share file in the cloud, you can pass your own IP address to deploy network drivers. In this way, a fast migration can be achieved without having to make too many adjustments in the local server file system.
Connecting via Remote Desktop Client

If you want to manage the service directly, you must use another tool. For example, if you want to run a Windows virtual server, you must start the Remote Desktop Connection client. If you want to run a Linux virtual server, you must start the SSH client. When using the above method, you need to establish a service on the virtual server to accept the connection, and ensure that the port (3389 for RDC) is open to the public. After

Remote Desktop console (Remote Desktop console)

, you can run the command in the window server to remotely manage desktops, this method is suitable for running Windows server from a console Manage commands and Linux command lines, such as starting a web and database server or creating new shared files.

Cloudshare.com the window browser interface

most cloud providers through windows browser or remote desktop connection to remote control. Cloudshare.com does not provide a VPN connection to users, but it displays all connection information, including the details of the instructions, through the browser when you need it.

Connecting via FTP

The third method is to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Previously, you had to set up the service on the virtual server and ensure that ports 20 and 21 were recognized by the external IP address. In this case, you can upload your FTP client on the local desktop or run FTP commands directly on the server and connect to the copied files on the Internet. This is the best way to transfer large files, such as creating a new website or uploading a database.

By comparison shows that, Cloudshare.com provide drag and drop file transfer and virtual desktop services group, this approach is convenient but security is not enough.

driven by VMware Console configuration DVD

VMware provide hosting services provide another Terremark data sent to the cloud transmission mode. Once you have connected the VPN, you can use the remote VMware console to configure the DVD drive for your local desktop and cloud services. This applies to uploading an ISO or installing a disk in a cloud server, depending on the network connection you are using.

Although the method used depends on the cloud provider chosen by the user and the amount of data, there are still a large number of options that affect the quality of the data being transferred to the server. The following table lists by:
