In fact, as early as the Vista system was introduced, Windows could use the ReadyBoost of a USB flash drive or other removable disk to improve system performance, which is still available in Win7. Although the effect is limited, for a computer with an older configuration and a smaller memory, this feature is worth trying, and it is not complicated to operate.
First, prepare a USB flash drive and plug it into the USB port of your computer. Double-click the "computer" icon on the desktop, right-click on the "removable disk" that you just inserted, and open “Properties".

Open the Properties dialog
Switch to the ReadyBoost tab and check "Use this device".

Open ReadyBoost
Generally speaking, the system will automatically give the recommended space size, you can also customize the space size according to your needs. Finally click the “OK" button to save the settings and exit the properties dialog.
After completing the above operation, ReadyBoost is already open. If you want to turn off this feature, just use “use this device“ uncheck it.

Close ReadyBoost
It is important to note that for ReadyBoost to work, the U disk or other removable storage device used must have at least 1GB of free space. In order to get better acceleration, the U disk space must be at least 2 times the size of the computer memory.
