Microsoft said the commercial version of Windows 8 will be launched in October this year

According to a Microsoft spokeswoman at CES, Microsoft's goal is to release a commercial version of Windows 8 in October this year.

Janelle Poole, director of public relations at Microsoft's Windows business unit, said that when Windows 8 was demonstrated, Windows was released about every three years. This October will be the release of Windows 7 for three years. Therefore, I think that is a good forecasting time that can be considered.

Microsoft has been reluctant to disclose the specific release time of Windows 8. However, Poole seems ready to provide a strong hint. She said that we did not talk about the release date of Windows 8. We generally don't talk about this date. We are talking about a milestone to another milestone. So what we are talking about now is that the next milestone is the launch of the consumer preview at the end of February.

Windows 8 will feature touch screen navigation and command functions as well as support for tablets. Not all applications running on Windows 7 are compatible with Windows 8 touch functionality. However, the mouse and keyboard will enable all applications running on Windows 7 to run on Windows 8.

Windows 8 will be more energy efficient, safer and compatible with ARM processors. These features will make Windows 8 more attractive to businesses.
