Don't get used to being misled! Take you to know the real Windows8 (1)

As the first operating system developed by Microsoft
for touch screen, Win8 can be called another milestone update after Win95. Especially the new Metro interface, let us use the keyboard
mouse
we are very novel. Of course, there are a lot of details to change, on the one hand, it brings us a new experience, but on the other hand, it constantly challenges the inherent thinking in the user's mind. In fact, if you analyze it in detail, many of the Win8 designs are not as "pit" as some review articles say, but they are just new ideas that we are not used to. Of course, it is difficult to convince people to say that it is not practical. Below I will give you a few to see if it has made you confused!

Misunderstanding 1. Metro does not exit the button

Figure 1 is "suspended" The application of the

Metro did not introduce the exit button from a new design of Win8 - "Suspended" state, in fact, if you look closely, you will find that in Metro, as long as we Switching an application off (not exiting) will automatically change the status of the application to "Suspended" in the Task Manager. In addition to a portion of the memory footprint (to maintain the current state of the role), the "suspend" program will no longer occupy any CPU and network resources.

The reason for this design is that it originates from two points. One is to reduce the user's operating intensity (the one-step exit can effectively reduce the finger strength), and the second is to allow the program (suspended) to recover instantly. . I heard that there will be netizens who will ask if all the applications are suspended and no longer quit. Wouldn’t the physical memory be used up soon? In fact, this problem does not have to worry about it. On the one hand, today's computer memory has 2G and 4G. On the other hand, Win8 also comes with a memory recycling mechanism. Once the free memory cannot meet the normal working conditions of the system, the mechanism will automatically shut down. The earliest pending application to solve the problem of insufficient memory resources.

Note: Although we can also force the suspended program to be suspended by the task manager, due to the existence of the automatic memory recovery mechanism, this does not have much practical significance.

Misunderstanding 2. No detailed options

Many users who have installed Win8 are complaining about why Win8's Metro application is so simple, sometimes even an option panel can't be found. In fact, this is also a small misunderstanding in our use. Originally different from previous WinXP, Win7
, Win8's "Start Menu" is not called the Start menu, but should be called the Charm menu. Unlike traditional menus, the Charm menu can display different commands depending on the environment, but the biggest problem is that there is no difference in appearance.

For example, if we activate a Charm under the weather forecast application (hover the lower left corner with the mouse or the shortcut key Win+C), then the option here is the weather forecast option panel, but If you start Alarms, the Charm that looks the same will display the option panel of the alarm.

Misunderstanding 3. Where is the switch?

This problem has caused many netizens to worry, because the location of the Win8 switch is really hidden too deep. Although as a touch screen system, setting the switch button on the Metro interface is understandable, but it is an indisputable fact that the operation of the traditional interface user is difficult. In fact, in Win8, we can use the shortcut key Win+I to call up the system menu, and then directly select the Power button (Metro and the traditional interface are common), this method will often call the Charm menu and then call the switch button instead of opening the Metro interface. Traditional operations are twice as fast.

In addition, we can also use the magic command line operation, DIY a shutdown shortcut to put it on the desktop. To do this, right click on the blank space on the desktop (traditional desktop), select "New Shortcut", and then type "shutdown -s -t 00" at the object location. In addition to the ability to put the shutdown shortcut on a traditional desktop, we can also copy it to the "X:\\ProgramData\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\" folder for porting to the Metro interface. Of course, the method is left for everyone. If you don’t need it, you have to look at your personal preferences.
