Win10 preview version of the new changes: increased system compression function in disk cleaning

Disk Cleanup is an important tool in Windows systems that allows users to delete various unwanted files on the system and help users save disk space. By default, this tool runs in simple mode, which only allows the user to delete files associated with the current account. However, users can delete more useless files by switching to advanced mode, such as Windows update patches and service packs. In the Win10 preview, advanced mode added more features than before. What is currently discovered is the "System Compression" option (this option probably doesn't exist if your computer has been cleaned before).

However, if you want to see this option, you need to run the Disk Cleanup Tool in Administrator mode; or switch from Normal mode to Advanced mode by clicking the "Clean System Files" button.

1. After entering cleanmgr in the search bar of the start menu (or directly enter “Disk Cleanup”), right click on the top search result and select “Run as administrator&

2. Select your system disk in the pop-up window (usually the default is C drive), and then click OK. After that, you need to wait for about a dozen seconds (depending on your computer, wait patiently, will come out), the disk cleanup window will pop up.

3, find the "Disk Compression" option, you can check to delete it.

It is still unclear what data is being compressed, but from the description file, this mechanism uses embedded NTFS compression to compress files to free up disk space. Older Windows users may remember that there is an option to "reduce old files" in WinXP's disk cleanup tool, but this option has been removed from Vista. Compressing data can free up a lot of disk space. This feature is useful if your Win10 Preview system has limited disk space. However, this feature is not mentioned in the official documents.
