Win10 is coming soon, Win8 will further reduce the share

Computer Store News: Windows 8 was launched in October 2012. Microsoft now recognizes that Windows 8 is a failed modern operating system. Only a small number of users have upgraded from Windows XP or Windows 7 to Windows 8.

After the introduction of Windows 8.1 in October 2013, the market share of Windows 8 dropped sharply and fell to the level of Vista, which also shows that Windows 8 is Microsoft's most failed operating system. The market share data provided by StatCounter shows that Windows 8 has lost nearly half of its users in the past 12 months, while the Windows 8.1 user base is three times that of Windows 8.

In April 2014, Windows 8 had a market share of 7.81%, and then gradually lost users. In November 2014, only 5.42% of desktops were still running. Windows 8 continues to decline, and now only 3.99% of PCs worldwide use Windows 8, losing 3.82% of their share within 12 months.

Microsoft is preparing to launch Windows 10, and the fall of Windows 8 will continue. More importantly, Windows 10 will provide Windows 7 or Windows 8 users with a free upgrade within the first year, and the same hardware requirements. Microsoft wants to forget Windows 8 as soon as possible. This is one of the reasons for the early launch of Windows 10, let us wait and see if Windows 10 can maintain Microsoft's industry leadership.
