Foreign media commented on different versions of Microsoft Windows 8 system positioning

Foreign media recently published an article saying that although Microsoft tried to reduce the number of Windows 8 versions, Some less common versions will be introduced for different users. For example, Microsoft will introduce a local language version of the entry-level Windows 8 system for some regions.

The following is a summary of some of the articles.

Compared with previous Windows operating systems, Microsoft hopes to reduce the number of Windows 8 versions of the next-generation operating system.

Microsoft announced on its blog on Monday that for traditional PCs, Windows 8 will only have two versions, Windows 8 (Normal Edition) and Windows 8 Pro (Professional Edition). At the same time, Microsoft will also launch an enterprise version for large enterprises, providing volume licensing. In addition, a major change in Windows 8 is the introduction of an ARM processor-based tablet version, Windows RT. This version of the system will contain the corresponding version of the Office application, but will not be able to run other traditional Windows applications.

In addition, Windows 8 will be available in local language to sell Windows 8 locally at a lower price.

All of the above versions of Windows 8 can run new Metro applications, but only Intel and AMD-based PCs can run legacy applications. All versions of Windows 8 will include Metro apps for managing email, calendar, photos, instant messaging, music and videos. All developers will be releasing the Metro app through the Windows 8 app store built into Windows 8.

Although Microsoft offers consumers different versions of Windows 8 as an option, it has been largely cut off compared to the previous version. The previous version of Windows also includes the Starter Edition and Home Basic Edition. Home Premium, Ultimate, Media Center and Tablet PC, and more.

Regarding the numerous problems of the Windows version, the industry has long complained, but until Windows 8, Microsoft seems to really listen to the user's voice. Compared to Windows Vista, the number of Windows 7 versions is equally confusing.

Microsoft also emphasized in the blog that Windows RT will contain many of the features that consumers expect, but does not have some enterprise features, such as joining a corporate domain. Windows RT also does not include the Windows Media Player player.

Last fall, Microsoft released a Windows 8 developer preview for developers, and in February this year released a Windows 8 consumer preview. Next, Microsoft will release the Windows 8 RC version. Microsoft did not disclose the date of listing and sales price of Windows 8, and the industry generally believes that Windows 8 will be available before the end of this year.
