New installation of Windows (Win8.1)

You can perform a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 using the installation media (such as a DVD or USB stick).

Steps for performing a fresh installation using a DVD or USB stick

If you have purchased a DVD version of Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, or created a DVD or bootable when you use the Upgrade Assistant to download Windows U disk, follow the steps below to perform a fresh installation.

Warning

If you format a partition during installation, any data on that partition will be erased. Be sure to back up all the data you want to keep before you start.

1. Turn on your computer so that Windows starts normally, insert a DVD or USB drive, and then turn off the computer.

2. Restart your computer and press any key to boot from a DVD or USB drive.

If you restart your computer and start the current version of Windows, you may need to open the boot menu or change the boot order in your computer's BIOS or UEFI settings so that your computer can boot from the media. To open the boot menu or change the boot order, you usually need to press the key combination (such as F2, F12, Delete, Esc, etc.) immediately after turning on the computer. For instructions on changing the boot order of your computer, check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.

If you are still starting the current version of Windows, wait until Windows asks you to log in, shut down immediately, then restart your computer again to try again.

3. On the "Install Windows" page, enter your language and other preferences, then click or click “Next”.

4. Click or click “Install Windows”.

5. On the “Enter Product Key to Activate Windows” page, enter your product key.

The product key should be on the box of the Windows 8.1 DVD or in the purchase confirmation email. It is similar to: PRODUCT KEY: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

6. On the “Read License Terms” page, if you accept the license terms, click or click “I accept the license terms” and click or click “Next”. .

7. In What kind of installation do you want to do? ” On the page, click or click “Customize”.

8. In "Where do you want to install Windows?" On the " page, do one of the following:

In Windows 8.1, click or click the desired partition, then click or click the formatting option you want to execute (if needed), then follow the instructions operating.

In Windows 8, click or click "Drive Options (Advanced)", click or click the partition you want to change, then click or click the formatting option you want to execute (if needed), Then follow the instructions.

9. After formatting is complete, click or click “Next”.

10. Please follow the instructions to complete the installation of Windows.
