Experts answer the Desktop.ini file is sacred

Everyone should have access to the Desktop.ini file, but most people do not know what he is, but vaguely know that he has something to do with the virus. Since some viruses will create a desktop.ini file under the folder, many friends have generated a wrong understanding of the file and think it is a virus file. In fact, this is wrong.

desktop.ini and viruses do not have a deep source, desktop.ini is a system-recognizable file, the role is to store the user's personality settings for the folder; and the desktop.ini created by the virus is different (This is not entirely true, see later.) The content of the file created by the virus varies from virus to virus, and can be the date of infection or other intentional or unintentional characters (strings).

The following describes the use of desktop.ini:

First, the folder icon

[.ShellClassInfo]

InfoTip=Comment

IconFile=Path to Icon File

IconIndex=Select the first icon in the file to use

Custom icon file, the extension can be .exe, .dll, .ico, etc.

Second, the folder background

[ExtShellFolderViews]

[]

IconArea_Image=The path of the background image (such as C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersDocumentsMy Pictures example Picture of Blue hills.jpg, the picture is best in JPG or BMP format)

Third, mark special folder

There are some special folders in the system, such as recycle bin, my computer , my documents, online neighbors, etc. There are two ways to mark these folders:

1. Immediately after the folder name, "." Add the corresponding CLISID

such as: Name a folder To: New Folder.

Then the icon for this folder will become the icon for my computer, and my computer will open when I double-click it.

The CLISID of some similar special folders in the system is now available to everyone:

My Computer.

Recycle Bin.

Dial-Up Networking .

Control Panel.

Printers.

Network Neighborhood.

Scheduled Tasks.

My Documents.

URL history.

2. The second is through a desktop.ini file

Also take my computer as an example:

Create a new folder with a random name And then create a desktop.ini file under it, the content is as follows:

[.ShellClassInfo]

CLISID=

Note: Some viruses will create such a folder to To achieve the purpose of hiding ourselves. In addition, this is also a way we hide small secrets.
