Integrate the IBM ServeRAID 8i card driver into the Win2003 installation CD

The model tested here is x366 and can be used with other xSeries servers including RAID adapter 8i. The following step will be introduced: Step 1: Prepare the work Step 2: Copy the driver Step 3: Update winnt.sif Step 4: Edit txtsetup.sif Step 5: Drive compression to i386 Step 6: Create a Boot CD needs to be prepared: • a Windows 2003 installation CD • optional – Latest Service Pack for Windows 2003 • RAID 8i card driver • machine with CD burner here assumes that you are familiar with burning software and master burning Tips for Windows Bootable CD Step 1: Prepare 1. Create a directory mydir.2. Copy the Windows 2003 installation CD to the first step to create the directory. 3. Download the RAID adapter 8i driver and related files from the IBM support website. Step: Copy the driver 4. Create the directory $OEM$\\$1\\drivers\\sata in the mydir directory, then copy the RAID adapter 8i driver file you just downloaded to the sata directory. Note: Add the latest PNP driver for x366, as shown in Figure 1. .Figure 1
Step 3: Upgrade winnt.sif5. Create the unattended.txt file with Windows Setup Manager Utility, rename the file to winnt.sif and copy it to the i386 directory. In Fig 2 OemPnpdriverPath line add all PnP driver path Note: you can \\ Tools in the Deploy.cab file to find the Setup Manager utility from Supports Windows 2003 Server CD-ROM. Setup Manager can boot the creation of the unattend.txt file. Note that you should edit the unattend.txt file with text. Figure 2
Step 4: Edit txtsetup.sif6. Add the following line at the end of the txtsetup.sif (in the i386 directory) file and before the terminator. [SourceDisksfiles]arcsas.sys = 1,,,, ,,3_,4,1,,,1,4 [HardwareIdsDatabase]PCI\\VEN_9005&DEV_0285&SUBSYS_02989005 = "arcsas"PCI\\VEN_9005&DEV_0285&SUBSYS_02f21014 = "arcsas" [SCSI.Load]arcsas = arcsas.sys , 4 [SCSI]arcsas = "Adaptec SAS RAID Controller"Note: This information can be obtained from the 8i card's .INF file. Figure 3
Step 5: Compress the driver to I3867. Command line mode Add the .sys file to the main Windows system files as follows: makecab :\\qwest\\$oem$\\41\\drivers\\sata\\arcsas.sys :\\qwest\\i386\\arcsas.sy_Step 6: Create a Boot CD 8. Carefully check each setting, including winnt.sif, txtsetup.sif and OemPnpdriversPath. Make sure it is accurate. 9. Create a bootable CD with your disc burning software.
