Leading at the starting point - Win 2000 operating system startup optimization

I believe that many friends are using the Windows 2000 operating system just like me. Like other Windows versions, if there are too many things installed in the Windows 2000 system, it will take a lot of time to start each time. It is really anxious to die. Wait. Then we will remove some unnecessary self-starting programs, and also let the system reduce the time of self-test, so that the system startup time can be shortened.

1. Use the Msconfig command. The "System Configuration Utility (Msconfig)" under Windows 98 is a very useful tool, it can easily delete or temporarily stop some self-starting programs, but Windows 2000 has abandoned it, everyone can only pass Modifying the registry to achieve the purpose is more troublesome. In fact, we can completely copy the Msconfig.exe (in the System subdirectory) under the original Windows 98 installation directory to the Windows 2000 WinntSystem directory, and then run it directly to let it continue to function.

The program will first pop up an error message box, suggesting that the following system files cannot be found: Config.sys, Autoexec.bat, System.ini, and Win.ini, "Ignore" it, click "OK" "After that you will see the familiar Msconfig program window, you can easily remove some self-starting programs according to your needs (Figure 1)! However, if you can't find a friend who uses Windows 98 around, you can also download it online. Here is the recommended Msconfig program that is stripped from Windows XP. It can be used in Windows 2000.

Change the last "Fastdetect" to "Nodetect". Next, run the Registry Editor, open the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEMControlSet001Control" primary key, change the "SystemStartOptions" key value of the right window to "Nodetet", and change the "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" to a smaller size, or reduce the program. The time to wait for a forced shutdown after an error. The default value is 20000 (string value, about 5 seconds).

3. Remove some record information. Right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Startup and Troubleshooting" tab under "Advanced". If only Windows 2000 is installed, you can remove the "Display Operating System List" checkbox. If your computer is not used as a server itself, you can completely remove the "Write events to the system log" and "Issuing management alarms" options above, and set "Write debugging information" to "None" ( As shown in Figure 2).

Through the optimization of these steps, I believe that the startup speed of your Windows 2000 system will definitely increase a lot.
