Let Windows XP SP2 pass the Security Center "Security"

Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 2 was officially released. The patch package is not only for the integration of all previous patches, but also the most important feature is that it also introduces a large feature —— Security center. The Security Center has added three firewalls, automatic system updates, and automatic virus protection, each of which plays a vital role in computer security. In particular, the virus automatic protection function can prompt users to open anti-virus software, upgrade the latest virus database, and enable real-time virus monitoring. The purpose of the security center is to integrate and integrate multiple anti-virus software and firewalls to provide unified protection for the system and provide users with a unified operation interface.

However, since the anti-virus products of current anti-virus vendors use their own standards, in order to be recognized by the security center at the same time, it is necessary to carry out the underlying relationship with Microsoft before the release of the Windows XP Service Pack 2 patch. The technical cooperation, the current common anti-virus software certified by Microsoft are Rising 2004, Jiangmin KV2004, Norton and Trend Micro.

We must choose an anti-virus software that is fully compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2, otherwise there will be a security status prompt for “Unmonitored”, as shown in Figure 1. Although some anti-virus software does not pass Microsoft's compatibility certification, this does not mean that it does not monitor the virus in the background. I still recommend that you choose a vendor that has passed Microsoft compatibility certification, and the reliability is higher. Here is a list of some common security software through the "security check" process.

Jiangmin KV2004

Jiangmin website offers two upgrade methods, one is online intelligence Upgrade, this method is very convenient for all KV2004 genuine users, just connect the computer to the Internet, click the “Smart Upgrade” button on the interface. The second is to download the upgrade package offline upgrade (download URL: http://update.jiangmin.com/download/Winxpsp2Beta.rar), after decompression, read the installation instructions, and then execute.

Both methods can be successfully used. After the upgrade, the virus is monitored in real time. The security center immediately recognizes the Jiangmin antivirus software and displays the virus database date and the antivirus engine version number.

Norton Products

Individual users running Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton SystemWorks and Norton Internet Security need to install product updates for Microsoft's Security Center to accurately display the security status of their products. . Symantec will provide updates to individual users through the product's LiveUpdate service.

Users simply click on the Norton product “LiveUpdate” button to download the latest product updates online. Users may need to run the LiveUpdate feature multiple times to ensure they get all the updates they need. After the user has downloaded all the product updates required for Windows XP Service Pack 2, LiveUpdate will inform the user that there are no latest updates.

Trend Micro Internet Security

Trend Micro OfficeScan Corporate Edition is a centralized, managed desktop anti-virus and Internet content security solution that currently supports Windows XP Service Pack 2. All current Trend Micro Internet Security versions of Trend Micro Internet Security (including 2002, 2003, and 2004 versions) are also compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2. With these enhancements, users can implement monitoring through the Windows XP SP2 Security Center console, provided they have the latest version of Trend Micro products and updated virus signatures to ensure protection against viruses and network worms.

Anti-virus software needs to be updated from time to time to combat variants such as "Netsky" or "MyDoom". To ensure the protection against such security threats, the user's best choice is to keep up with the latest virus database files and scan engine update information. Windows XP Service Pack 2 Security Center will remind users to update to the latest virus database and scan. Engine to ensure system security.

Rising 2004

Since Rising was Security Center with Microsoft in May 2004 Cooperation, so if you upgraded the Rising anti-virus software and firewall version after May, you can be supported by the Security Center. After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, the security center of the system will automatically detect the Rising anti-virus software and personal firewall, and display the current software in the Security Center's "Firewall" and "Virus Protection" items. The status is shown in Figure 2. In the future, users can keep track of the current anti-virus software and personal firewall work by simply opening the security center.
