Three ways to lock your screen in Windows XP

The method of locking a computer under Windows XP is related to the way the user logs in and logs out. In the "Control Panel & Rarr; User Account", select the task "Change the way users log in or log out" & rdquo; there are two buttons in the interface: "Use the welcome screen" and "Use fast user switch & rdquo; (The meaning can be seen in the explanation below). There are three ways to set these two buttons:

1. Do not use the welcome screen (you cannot use fast user switching at this time).

2. Use only the welcome screen.

3, using both the welcome screen and fast user switching.

When Windows XP is installed, the default setting is 3.

The following describes the method of locking the screen according to the setting of the user login or logout method.

Setting 1: Same as Windows 2000 and Windows NT4.0, the interface is similar.

Advantages: It is the true "lock the computer", after you have locked the computer, other users (except administrators) can not use this computer.

Disadvantages: There is no <; welcome screen> before login, you need to enter your own username; fast user switching is not supported.

Setting 2: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, and select “Shutdown Computer” in the pop-up task manager.

Advantages: There is a “Welcome Screen” before login, and other advantages are the same as setting 1.

Disadvantages: Fast user switching is not supported.

Setting 3: Use multiple methods at this time:

Method 1: Select “Start →Logout”, then click “Switch User”.

Method 2: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and select “Shutdown“>Lock Computer” in the task manager that pops up.

Method 3: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, select the “Users” tab in the pop-up Task Manager, then select the account of the currently logged in user and press the “Disconnect” button.

Advantages: There is a welcome screen before login, which supports fast user switching.

Disadvantages: Only one account is locked, while other users can use this computer through other accounts.

General Methods

Since the keyboards that everyone uses today are generally Windows keyboards (there is a Windows icon in the middle of the left Ctrl and left Alt keys, generally called the Win key). In addition to the various methods described above, there is one more convenient way, which is to use the Windows shortcut: Win+L. In any case, just press Win+L, you can lock the screen, you can give it a try.
