What is msconfig? Msconfig can not run, can not find msconfig or msconfig can not open? Run msconfig prompt can not find how to solve the problem of running msconfig.exe? Please read the detailed explanation of this article.

msconfig is a system configuration utility that should run msconfig if your system is Windows XP or Windows 2000. Generally open the msconfig operation as start-run-msconfig.

If you are using a Windows 2000 system, you can copy the Msconfig in the win xp C:\\WINDOWS\\PCHEALTH\\HELPCTR\\Binaries directory to the Windows 2000 directory. This feature is said to be banned in Windows 2000.

If your system is Windows XP and you can't run msconfig, you should consider whether the file installation is incomplete or the file path is changed. We can run msconfig directly to open the program because it is in the registry. The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\App Paths key has the relevant path of msconfig.exe, which serves as a guiding function. If there is no msconfig.exe related path or path error, it will not be able to directly run the file name to open.

Solution: Run “regedit”, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\App Paths In the right window, right click on the blank space, select [New] → [item], Change its name to “MSCONFIG.EXE”.

Then select “MSCONFIG.EXE”, then in the right window, double-click the string value [default], change the value to "C:\\Windows\\PCHealth\\HelpCtr\\Binaries\\MSConfig.exe” (Change according to the partition where the system is located). After the modification, we can open the program by running msconfig directly as before.

If you are in trouble, it is recommended to re-install XP system.
