Must not look at Windows XP system broadband application skills

Nowadays, there are more and more friends using high-speed Internet access such as ADSL and LAN. For example, the broadband broadband Internet access provided by the city where the author is located is not limited (but the traffic is limited to 512KB). It’s really a pleasure. If you have upgraded to the Windows XP operating environment, then the following broadband usage tips can not be seen: 1. View the broadband connection status
Just open the "Dial-up Network" window from the "Start /Control Panel", as shown in Figure 1. Show, you can see that an available connection has been established under "LAN or High Speed Internet Connection". The default name of this available connection is "Local Area Connection". For the convenience of use, I have renamed it to "Broadband Connection". . Double-click the icon or execute the "Status" command from the shortcut menu, you can see a window as shown in Figure 2, from which you can see the status of the connection (whether connected), duration (connected time) And many other useful parameters such as speed. 2. Disconnect the broadband connection
I use the LAN LAN mode to access the Internet, I don't need a dial-up connection every time, I can access the Internet when I turn it on. It is very convenient. Some friends may want to temporarily disconnect the broadband connection, but can't find the "disconnect" command from the shortcut menu. Is it necessary to unplug the network cable? Of course not needed, we can right click on "Local Area Connection" and execute the "Deactivate" command in the shortcut menu, so that you can disconnect. When you want to connect again later, just execute the "Enable" command. However, after testing, I found that when the broadband connection is disabled, the connection is easy to fail when it is enabled again, and the "repair" command can be executed. 3. Use the built-in firewall
In the "Properties" window, click on the "Advanced" tab, as shown in Figure 3, check "protect my computer and network by restricting or blocking access to this computer from the Internet" After the checkbox, you can get a free firewall protection, why not? 4. Realize Broadband ICS
Now that broadband has been used, why not let other computers in your home enjoy it? Below, the author introduces friends to some of the techniques for implementing broadband ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in Windows XP through an example: (1) Guarantee ICS from hardware First, we must physically connect the computer (I will use my home here) For example, desktop and laptop computers. For the average home user, it is relatively simple to set up a peer-to-peer network, which means that each computer can communicate directly with each other, so that no special server is needed. One of the services that ICS can achieve by realizing resource sharing. Simply put, you need to prepare the network card, five types of twisted pair, crystal head and other things. When making the connector of the network cable, please pay attention to the direction and line arrangement. If you are not sure, you can refer to the previous report. Article, or simply ask the technical staff of the computer company to help you with the network cable, so you can avoid a lot of trouble. (2) Forming a peer-to-peer network Each computer should be equipped with a network card. The computer as the ICS host should have two network cards (preferably the desktop as the host), one of which is connected to the broadband network and the other is connected to the network cable and laptop. Connected, separately installed the driver of the network card, WindowsXP can automatically identify the vast majority of network cards, in addition to the need to add TCP /IP, NWLinkIPX /SPX /NetBIOSCompatibleTransport, NWLinkNetBiOS and other protocols in the two computers, which can be right click Network Neighborhood → → Properties → Local Area Connection → Properties → Installation → Protocol. If all goes well, you can quickly see the other party's computer in "Network Neighborhood" (as shown in Figure 4). Note: Under normal circumstances, Windows XP will automatically configure the IP address, no longer need to be manually configured. (3) Configuring the ICS host Before configuring, you need to confirm that there is an active Internet connection on the ICS host (that is, the desktop), that is, check whether the ICS host can access the Internet. Then, you can click “Control Panel” → “Network Connection” → “Network Task” to select the “Set up Home or Small Office Network” task. At this time, the “Network Installation Wizard” prompt window will appear, telling you some network installation wizards. Note, the window shown in Figure 5 will appear after clicking the "Next" button twice. This step is more important. Please be careful. Now we should choose the first item "This computer is directly connected to the Internet. Other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer", then continue to click "Next", the window shown in Figure 6 appears, choose the correct one. Internet connection (because there are two network cards in the ICS host, there are also two Internet connections, one connected to the broadband network and the other to the laptop). If you really don't know, you can go to the Control Panel first. Under the "network connection" look at it. The following steps can be left without regard to it, press "Next" all the way to the window of Figure 7, here you need to select "Create Network Installation Disk", insert a blank floppy disk according to the prompt, according to the prompts of the wizard Network installation disk. At this point, the ICS host has been fully configured. (4) Configuring the ICS client Now, we can insert the network installation disk just created on the desktop into the floppy drive of the laptop, then double-click "My Computer" and find "on the 3.5-inch floppy disk (A:)" The netsetup.exe file double-clicks. The first thing you see is a welcome window that tells you. "Before you continue, Windows must install some network support files and possibly restart the computer. If you are running Windows XP, the wizard will start immediately. Do you want to continue? "Of course, click "Yes". After clicking the "Next" button twice, select "Yes" to use the existing shared connection for Internet access (recommended) for this computer. The choice here is exactly the opposite of Figure 6 on the previous ICS host, friend Do you remember? After clicking the "Next" button, the wizard gives two choices "Determining the right connection for me" and "Let me choose the connection to my network." From my personal experience, I suggest Friends choose the latter, so that the degree of freedom is greater, click "Next" and then select the connection to connect this computer to other network computers according to the actual situation in Figure 8, and then just click the default settings a few times" The next step is to end the work of the Network Installation Wizard. Ok, now go to the laptop and try it out. Can you open IE to browse the web and run QQ? As long as you can see each other in your original Network Neighborhood. The other party, then ICS should be no problem. Note: In order to ensure the smooth implementation of ICS, two computers are required to use the same Version of the operating system, thus reducing a lot of trouble. How, after so some simple settings in the broadband fast track surfing more enjoyable, right?
