Family Safety: Parental Control or “Parents are Controlled” (1)

I believe that many of you have experienced the fascinating style of Vista
, and in Vista, there is a feature that is especially eye-catching. This is the well-received "parental control." In this mode, parents can not only make time for the child's computer, allow the page to be viewed, and the operations that can be performed... Make a series of detailed settings, and also record the whole process of the child using the computer for the aftermath. Check it out.

However, because Vista has high requirements on the hardware configuration of the computer, not everyone can use the system. Friends who also plan to use the XP system will not be associated with "parental control." In fact, it may not be. Today, I will introduce you to such a small software, which can realize the "parental control" under XP system. This is Windows Family Safety.

In fact, this software is a sub-function attached to Microsoft Windows Live OneCare, the main purpose is to prevent children from landing some unhealthy web pages. Therefore, the actual function is not as rich as Vista's "parental control." Moreover, Windows Family Safety's multi-person recognition mechanism is different from Vista, and the way it distinguishes each user is Windows Live ID.

First, import parent and child accounts

To perform parental control, first ensure that every member of the family has their own Windows Live ID. If you or your child don't have this account yet, it doesn't matter, just open the "http://get.live.com/familysafety/WindowsliveID
" page and apply for one free of charge.

After the account application is completed, visit “https://fss.live.com/
” and enter the management page of Family Safety, as shown in Figure 1.

First, click the “Return User” button in the management interface and log in to Family Safety with your own account (provided you must have it Parent).

Then, the site began asking if all family members already have a Windows Live ID. Here, since all the member accounts have been applied in the previous step, you can go to the next step by directly selecting "Every family member has a Windows Live ID and can set it up".
