Proxy server (WinGate) advanced settings and application skills collection (3)

Here I use the 163 mail account ([email protected]) used by the author as an example to illustrate the settings of the POP3 mail client in Outlook Express. From the "Tools" item on the Outlook Express menu bar, select "Account", pop up the Internet account dialog box, select the "Mail" tab, the mail receiving server in the account properties should enter the host name or address of the WinGate proxy server. Thus, for the mail client, the POP3 server becomes a WinGate machine, then, how to tell WinGate the target POP3 server? WinGate is obtained from the mail client by introducing a separator. That is, in Outlook Express, the POP3 username should be set to:

POP3 username + delimiter + POP3 server (this is especially important)

From the previous example, the username is You should enter: huang_yuehua#163.net, enter the password corresponding to the account in the password field. At this point, you can get the mail through the POP3 proxy server.

The SMTP proxy service is implemented through TCPMappingService. In WinGate settings, add a TCP mapping service, enter its configuration dialog. Enter the port number for SMTP proxy server used in the Acceptconnectionsonport items, typically uses port 25. If you are using the default mapping can tick Enabledefaultmapping, and enter the remote server in SMTP server address, as smtp.163.net 163 of the port number of the SMTP server uses port, port 25 as 163.

In this way, WinGate's SMTP proxy service is basically set up. If you want to access multiple client SMTP server, needs to be increased corresponding mapping item in the tag mapping, the mapping may be carried out according to the address, user name or IP address of the workstation. For example, the author's ISPEmail account is: [email protected]. In order to use this account to send emails, I have added a mapping by username, that is, first create a WinGate user gzgmsdzs and map it to the SMTP server public1. Guangzhou.gd.cn (port: 25). Through this mapping, when the user gzgmsdzs sends the mail, the WinGateSMTP proxy server will use public1.guangzhou.gd.cn as the remote SMTP proxy server. The client settings are very simple, just set the SMTP server to WinGate hostname.

News Mapping Agent

Internet/Usenet News Service uses TCP port 119. Therefore, first add a TCP mapping service on WinGate, accept the connection request on port 119, you can choose to use the default mapping, fill in the default mapping server host name or IP address in the default mapping server entry, port number is 119 .

When setting up a news account in Outlook Express, you should set its news server to the address of the WinGate host. The real target news server is determined by WinGate's mapping service. To set up multiple news servers, you can set up a mapping table to map based on the workstation host address or username.

Telnet Proxy Service

Because Telnet is evolved from a command line-based service, it can be configured without special settings for Telnet clients. When using, first Telnet to the WinGate machine, at the prompt (WinGate>) enter the name of the host to log in, you can attach the port number.

If you frequently log in to the same host, you can also configure a fixed mapping link in WinGate to simplify the login process.

For client programs like NetTerm that support firewalls, the configuration script is easy and intuitive to use with the accompanying WinGate command script. It is no longer necessary to manually log in to WinGate's Telnet server, which is much easier.
