How to turn off Win8.1 update notification

Since users don't want to update to Windows 8.1 for the time being, and naturally don't want to receive update notifications all the time, is there any way to stop showing update notifications? The answer is of course: yes .

There are two ways to turn off this update notification. One is to change the Group Policy settings, and the other is to modify the registry. In comparison, the former is simpler and safer.

Group Policy:

1. Press [Win + R] to open the Run dialog box and enter “gpedit.msc” Enter to open the Group Policy Editor;

2, expand & ldquo; computer configuration & rdquo; & mdash; & mdash; & ldquo; management template & rdquo; & mdash; & mdash; & ldquo; Windows components & rdquo;, find “ application store & rdquo; this one (in the lower position) ;
Find the app store

3. Double-click on the right window to "Stop the update to the latest version of Windows", and click "Open" in the window that opens, rdquo; Then confirm the exit.
Turn off update push notifications

After this change, you will no longer receive Windows 8.1 update notifications. When you think you can update to Windows 8.1, change this setting back to &ldquo ; not configured & rdquo;

Registry Method:

1. Press [Win + R] to open the Run dialog box and enter “regedit” Enter to open the Registry Editor;

2 , and then expand: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsStore; if you do not have this item, manually create a new one.

3. Create a new DWORD value in the right window of the WindowsStore item, name it: DisableOSUpgrade, and set its value to 1.
Modify Registry Values

4. Exit the Registry Editor, log out or restart the system for the changes to take effect. When you need to accept the update notification again, change the DWORD value to 0 or delete the entire WindowsStore item.

As long as you follow any of the above methods, you can turn off the Windows 8.1 free update notification until you think the time to update to Windows 8.1 is mature.
