Microsoft is preparing to launch a major update for Win10 File Explorer

Computer Store News: File Explorer (formerly known as Windows Explorer) can help you with files and folders on OneDrive, your computer, and the web. This is one of the most popular applications with more than one billion users. The last major update occurred in the Windows 7 operating system era, creating new folders, mail and compression projects for common tasks such as copying and moving, and changing the view brings the Ribbon UI. Although the File Explorer is important, its UI is not suitable for modern touch devices.

For example, when using File Explorer on Surface Pro 4, it is often difficult to complete touch operations on specific projects. In Windows 8, OneDrive can be used as a modern application instead of a file explorer to browse files on a touchscreen device. But in Windows 10, Microsoft has removed the OneDrive app, and Microsoft has not provided a better way to browse the contents of files in local storage. Microsoft is now addressing this issue. According to Peter Skillman, general manager of the Microsoft Windows desktop core user experience, Microsoft is now developing a major update for File Explorer for modern touch devices. But Peter Skillman did not disclose which update is available in which Windows Insider Build. But it should not wait a long time. It is hoped that Microsoft will not weaken its functionality and optimize operational simplicity when it comes to improving the file explorer for touch and mouse/keyboard users.
