For Intel Skylake and later released processors, the Win10 operating system must be used to obtain support services. Microsoft believes that the old system is only suitable for those "old processors", if your processor meets the relevant requirements, then your PC can still get the relevant updates. The Win7 service period is until January 14, 2020, and Win8.1 is January 10, 2023.


In addition, Microsoft also said that both the Qualcomm platform's Snapdragon 820 and AMD's new Bristol Ridge architecture processor are also applicable to the above principles.

But for enterprise users, if you buy a PC with Intel Skylake processor, you can get Microsoft for 18 months. Support services until July 17, 2017. After that, these users (Windows 7, Windows 8.1) will not get related updates. At that time, users will only be able to continue to receive support if they update to the Windows 10 system.

Microsoft also stressed that compared to Windows 7, the Skylake platform can achieve 30 times better graphics performance and 3 times more battery life in Windows 10 systems. In order to give users a better experience, Microsoft and their partners agree that they should be equipped with Windows 10 for their Skylake devices.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft promises that Windows 7 will continue to receive updates and services until January 14, 2020, while Windows 8.1 will be available until January 10, 2023. Of course, Microsoft believes that these “old systems” are only applicable to “old processors”.
