Microsoft Surface can run early OS X version after jailbreak

January 14th, earlier, a security researcher revealed how to jailbreak a Microsoft Surface RT tablet running Windows RT from the operating system. Developers use a method that takes advantage of a setting in the operating system, followed by a jailbreak tool that makes it easy to run and unlock devices. It needs to be applied every time the operating system starts, but it can provide an interface to run an ARM-based desktop app.

Microsoft has closed its Windows RT operating system for Windows 8 applications and does not allow developers to compile ARM-based apps. Irish programmer Steve Troughton Smith recently tried the technology on his Surface and found that he was able to run an earlier version of Apple's OS X server operating system on the Surface. Given that XDA Developers members are so eager to test this jailbreak program, if Microsoft does not plan to fix this vulnerability in the future, it is likely that Windows RT will develop a robust self-use community for desktop apps.
