Microsoft explains the different features of IE10 on WP8 and Win8

Windows 8 uses the latest version of Microsoft's browser IE 10. And just recently, Microsoft announced that they will also adopt IE 10 in Windows Phone 8. In a recent blog post, Microsoft explained the difference between the two. Obviously, IE8 of WP8 will not support the playback of introverted video and new operation attempts (ie, pan and zoom IE 10 in touch screen form).

In addition, WP8 version of IE10 will not support HTML 5 audio playback, ActiveX, VBScript and API drag and access. Features like link preview, icon display of selected websites, notifications, and linking websites to applications are also not supported.

Since each "window" of the mobile phone display has its own independent sandbox, Windows.open cannot return to the valid window object in WP8.
