Red Hat and SAP Virtualization Collaborate to Enter a New Phase

  

Recently, Red Hat announced a new phase of cooperation with SAP in the field of virtualization. Red Hat has partnered with SAP to help users more easily configure SAP applications on Red Hat physical servers, virtual environments or the cloud. The information came from a keynote speech by Irfan Khan, senior vice president and chief technology officer of SAP's Sybase, at the Red Hat Summit in Boston.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization provides a comprehensive virtualization management solution for server and desktop virtualization. The Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 release, launched in January 2012, is the first to deliver a comprehensive enterprise-class open source virtualization platform. Today, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is certified to run SAP enterprise applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This gives users a platform based on open source virtualization technology that can scale to support growing workloads and users while also being compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and SAP's ecosystem.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisors running on SAP ERP 6.0 applications in two two-tier SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) standard application benchmarks Leading results have been achieved in performance testing. These test conclusions were made by running KVM on Red Hat Enterprise Linux on IBM System x processors and Cisco Unified Computing Systems.
