Microsoft Windows Vista technical support only until 2012

According to foreign media reports, Microsoft recently announced that it will limit the support period of three versions of Windows Vista operating system to 5 years instead of the usual 10 years. These three versions include Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate, with the price of the Ultimate version being the highest among all Vista versions.

Microsoft said that the life cycle of Vista has only just begun, users do not need to consider the support period too much. A Microsoft spokesperson said in an e-mail: "There is still five years before the end of the Vista life cycle." "But, Microsoft left room for manoeuvre. The company spokesperson said: "As in the past, we will continue to evaluate Vista's life cycle, and if necessary, we will extend its support period." & rdquo;

The Vista version for enterprise customers, including Vista Business and Enterprise, will still use the previous "5 5" support policy, the first five years of "mainstream" support, the last five Years are "extended" extensions. However, the Vista version for consumers, including Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate, will be available until April 2012. After that, even if there is a high-risk vulnerability, Microsoft will not provide security updates. Among them, Vista Ultimate has a retail price of $499, which is the most expensive version of Vista.

Microsoft's cuts in Vista's support period are somewhat surprising, as the company just extended the support period for Windows XP Home and Windows XP Media Center for five years in January. Their support period was originally scheduled to end in April 2009, but has now been extended to 2014. Ines Vargas, Microsoft's executive support policy executive, said at the time that one of the reasons the company made this decision was the extension of the consumer's cycle of computer replacement.

Michael & Middot, an analyst with the Microsoft Research Journal, said that Microsoft has shortened Vista support to five years because the company is confident in the Vista lifecycle. Introduce replacement products before the end. Microsoft extended the Windows XP support period to make users satisfied, because Vista's launch time is too late, if you end the Windows XP support period in a short period of time, Microsoft will inevitably face risks.
