Tip: Turn OEM XP into retail genuine XP

Decrypt WindowsXP's setupp.ini. Windows XP's setupp.ini determines how the OEM XP installation CD works, and modifying it will turn your OEM CD into a formal retail version. Steps: 1. Go to the i386 path of the WinXP CD and find setupp.ini. 2. Open, the file content is displayed as: ExtraData=707A667567736F696F697911AE7E05 Pid=55034000 The Pid is the part we are interested in. The numbers below determine whether the XP disc is a retail version, an OEM version or an enterprise license version. 3. The important part of the entry. First, we divide the number after Pid into two parts. The first five digits determine how the CD works. For example, the retail version of the CD allows you to perform a full installation or upgrade, while the OEM CD can only be used. Completely installed. The last 3 digits determine the CD Key accepted by the disc. You can modify this to get a retail CD that accepts the OEM CD Key. Remember, the first and last digits cannot be changed, but you can change other numbers to match them, for example: Retail = 51882335 Volume License = 51883 270 OEM = 82503 OEM If you want a retail CD that accepts the retail CD key, just Modify the last line of setupp.ini to: Pid=51882335 If you want a retail CD that accepts the OEM CD Key, change the last line of setupp.ini to: Pid=51882OEM Note, don't change Pid to Enterprise License Edition Because the version cannot be activated, the activation must have a corporate authorization key.
