Essential Win XP system installation classic skills

Because the Windows XP operating system is the operating system of the NT kernel, its installation is basically the same as that of Windows 2000/NT4.0, and the installation difference of Windows 9x system is relatively large. Considering that many friends are not familiar with the installation of NT system, I am Here are the steps to write the installation and the precautions for your reference.

Installing Windows XP under Windows

Inserting the Windows XP CD will automatically run, the installation interface appears, click "Install". If it does not run automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root directory of the CD to start the installation. There are several options during the installation process before restarting the computer. Note that if you plan to install Windows XP to another partition instead of the C drive, you should pay attention to the "Advanced" option and remember to select the "Installation process." In the "Select partition" item, otherwise you will not be able to select the installed partition after the restart of the installation process.

this situation may be to buy a new computer under DOS, or Windows system can not enter. Will choose to install under DOS. NT system is different from 9x system. It is not installed under DOS like Windows 98. Just type setup.exe, but load smartdrv.exe first, then run winnt.exe in /i386 directory.

specific operation method is as follows: Suppose smartdrv.exe

A disk in this document, G is a disk drive (Note: This document is available on the system or windows 9x optical disc Windows windows 9x A:smartdrv.exe

a:g:

g:cd i386

g:i386winnt.exe
< BR> This will be fine, be sure to remember to load smartdrv.exe or not, huh, huh, you can't install Windows XP one night.

Other attention issues----NTFS
< BR> Regarding the choice of NTFS, if you want to install multiple operating systems, please remember not to convert the C drive to NTFS. For details about the differences between NTFS and FAT32 in the FAT file system, please check other documents, so I won't go into details here.

If you don't know if you should convert it to NTFS, an easy way is to use FAT32 and select "Do not convert". After you understand NTFS, you can use convert.exe executable file in command line mode to convert at any time, such as "convert c: /fs:ntfs" to convert c drive to NTFS.

NTFS for most ordinary users, it has the advantage that supports file encryption. Windows XP, like Windows 2000, supports multi-user use, and it supports switching to another user without logging out of the current user. This is called fast switching users. With the NTFS file system, different users can encrypt their own documents, while other users are inaccessible. For example, the current pccat account is logged in. I encrypt a.txt and then quickly switch to the whislter user login. When the whistler user clicks on a.txt, the system will prompt you that you do not have access to this file. For ordinary users, the other advantage of NTFS is that it can support large hard disks very well, and the hard disk allocation unit is very small, reducing the generation of disk fragmentation. Moreover, the familiar CIH virus can't be transmitted under the NTFS file system. Users who use NTFS don't need to pay attention to CIH. Of course, CIH has lost its previous power, but I want to say that the NTFS file system is better than FAT32. Safety.

DOS and Windows 9x systems can not access NTFS, it would be the security features of NTFS, but also one of its drawbacks. For example, many friends like to use GHOST software to back up the system. Ghost backup program can't run under XP/NT. It must be run under DOS, and the file is placed on the FAT32 partition. In addition, in order to access some files under certain emergency conditions. Need to leave a partition for FAT32. In general, the NTFS file system is a good file system, it is recommended to use, at least you can convert the partition of your installer into NTFS. Of course, the NTFS file system has many advantages, such as disk quotas, disk compression, user management, etc., but I think these are not very important for ordinary users, mainly for enterprise users, clients in domain mode.
