Remote Management with Win XP Brings Tools

In Remote XP/2003 and other operating systems, you can use Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop to implement remote control. In addition, some third-party software can also be remotely controlled, but these graphical interfaces mean more time and increase the chance of network data transmission interruption for users with small network bandwidth.
In fact, if you are doing some simple remote management work, using the Win XP operating system comes with Telnet is a good choice. Here we use Win XP operating system as the client, _blank> Win 2003 as the server for Telnet.
Start Telnet service
Under normal circumstances, in the Win 2003 operating system, we can enter the system command prompt environment, enter "net start Telnet" and press the Enter key to open the Telnet service. However, if there is a prompt such as "Unable to start the service", it is because the Telnet service in the system is not enabled.
Open the "Start → Administrative Tools → Services" option, double-click "Telnet" in the service list on the right side of the "Services" window that opens, in the dialog box that opens, you can find "Startup Type" is "Disabled" ", and the "service status" is in the "stopped" state. We can set the "Startup Type" to "Automatic" and click the "Start" button to start the Telnet service (Figure 1).

Take Telnet Connection
In the Win XP client, you can enter the command prompt window. At the prompt, enter the following: Telnet host name (or IP address) port number, such as "Telnet 171.171.151.117".
Tip Here, some readers may find that the author did not enter the port number in the example. This is because on the server side, the default Telnet service port number is 23. If the port number of the service changes, then the command is required. Add the corresponding port number. After inputting, press Enter to log in.
When logging in, there will be a “You will send your password information to a remote computer in the Internet zone. This may not be safe. Do you want to send it? "This prompt, for security reasons, we can enter "n", so that the password can be effectively secured.
In a subsequent login prompt, you can enter the username given by the other computer after login and passWord respectively. And the password, and then press the Enter key, but there is a prompt "User is not a member of the Telnet client group, the connection to the host is interrupted", the reason for this situation is that the login user did not obtain the corresponding management rights.
We can go back to the Win 2003 server, open "Start → Administrative Tools → Computer Management", select the "User" option in the list on the left, double-click the login user name in the right window, click in the window that appears. Belong to the "tab", click the "Add" button, select the administrator group in the "Select Group" window, and finally click the "OK" button, you can make the user have administrative rights.
Finally return to Win XP customers On the other hand, you can log in successfully according to the login procedure of Telnet above (Figure 2). Now we can go far to the server. Control, simple file operations and remote management work in DOS state.
