Setting of digital CD playback mode under Win XP

        Since Microsoft's CD audio mode for CD-ROM drives is set to digital audio by default in Windows XP operating system, if you do not have an analog audio output cable installed on the CD-ROM drive, it is likely that the sound will only be played when playing CDs under Windows XP. The sound card output cannot be output from the optical drive audio output hole. If you want to solve the problem, the steps are as follows:

Step 1

Right click on "My Computer" in the popup menu Select the "Properties" item to open the System Properties window; click the "Hardware" tab, click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager window;

Step 2

Open the CD-ROM drive Node, right click on the CD-ROM device, select "Properties" item in the pop-up menu, open the CD-ROM Properties window; click the "Properties" tab, and remove the check box before the option "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device"; BR>
Step 3

Open "Windows Media Player" with the mouse and click "Start → Programs → Accessories → Entertainment". Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options", open the options window of the media player; click the "Devices" tab, select your CD-ROM device in the device list, and then click the "Properties" button to open the CD-ROM Properties window;

Step 4

Select “Analog” in the playback options, and finally click the “OK” button to save and exit and restart the computer.
