XP SP2 (RC2) uses the full Raiders

The long-awaited XP second service upgrade package is about to be released soon. Unlike the first service upgrade package, this time is not a simple synthesis of some system vulnerability patches, but the entire operation. The system has been upgraded in all aspects. From the media player software Windows Media Player 9.0 to the security center, to the better support for the wireless network, the wireless network installation wizard has been added, so that users actually feel that XP has A brand new look, it is no wonder that this upgrade is reloaded.

Let's take a brief overview of the security of SP2, let everyone have a simple understanding of some of the new features of SP2. With the introduction of SP2, the Windows operating system we are using now is more secure. It not only provides users with patches of known vulnerabilities such as shockwaves, shockwaves, etc., but also adds the powerful function of Security Center. Anti-virus, anti-attack, and patching system vulnerabilities merge to make XP have a relatively secure defense barrier. Let's take a look at SP2 RC2 v.2149 to see how SP2 is better to protect our computers from viruses. Destruction and hacking attacks.

After installing SP2, we will restart the computer first. This time it is not like this screen before installation, but it is like this, this may be because SP2 is not official The reason for the version, the home version after installing SP2 is also the following. The version of XP is no longer displayed.

Then there will be such a picture. If you are running on a faster machine, we may not see this picture

After this screen, we will see a screen like the new XP installed. I think everyone saw this screen after installing XP.

Seeing this is indeed for me. A feeling of reinstalling a new system, then let us set up an automatic update, so that our system is protected before we enter the system, so that we can fix the security patch in the first time, prevent it from happening .

At this time, there are two options to help protect my computer by enabling automatic update, and it is not enabled now. It is recommended to choose it. Since we install SP2, it is not to make the system more secure and stable. Select and click Next. Enter the operating system.

Just entering the system, we first saw a new dialog box, this is the security center

is divided into firewall, automatic update, virus protection, firewall is the network that comes with Windows XP Before connecting the fire, but the current firewall root is different. It is a comprehensive upgrade of the previous XP firewall. It will not be introduced here. The automatic update is set before we enter the system, and its status is enabled. The purpose is to make our operating system available for the latest security updates from Microsoft activities and some system updates in the first time. This upgrade also provides a comprehensive improvement to the automatic update, which will be fully described later. Regarding virus protection, this is a brand new concept. This upgrade effectively links anti-virus software with the operating system, making anti-virus software and operating system work together to protect our information security. If the computer is equipped with anti-virus software, the virus protection will automatically monitor the anti-virus software and monitor its status. Even after our virus database expires, the security center will automatically pop up a reminder to remind us to update the anti-virus software. Moreover, when the security center detects unsafe factors, it will automatically provide us with suggestions, such as recommending anti-virus software to us. In this way, the security center integrates our virus protection, security protection, and repairing vulnerabilities. The security of the computer is guaranteed.

After the upgrade, if there are any hidden dangers in the security, the system will automatically pop up the prompt in the lower right corner of the taskbar

After clicking the balloon icon, the system will enter the security center and let us make the settings.

Let's take a closer look at how the security problem in SP2 is solved. First, let's start with the security center and explain the firewall, automatic update, and virus protection one by one.

Let's take a look at the firewall. We all know that there is a firewall in the previous version of XP, but its function is not comparable to the firewall in today's SP2, first in the control panel alone. Join the firewall icon, open the icon, we will see the firewall settings dialog, where we can set the firewall.

When our firewall is turned on, the system actually blocks all externally connected local computers by default. For example, before we make any settings, all programs are not allowed to access the network. The system finds that if an external attempt is made to access a program on the local machine, a warning will pop up.

There are three options in the alert dialog box. Their meanings are

Keep blocked: < Br> Block the program from accepting connections without your permission.

Unblock:
Only when you know why the program asks if you accept a connection to your computer, or when you know the program is trustworthy.

Ask me later:
Select this option if you don't know if it is permanently blocked or unblocked. This option causes the program to be blocked (for added security) and you will see this message again the next time you start the program.

If you choose to unblock the program, Windows Firewall will create an exception for the program to allow the program to communicate through the firewall. The firewall will not notify you when the program wishes to receive a connection in the future. When you close the program, the temporary open port in the firewall will also be closed.

While monitoring the program, the non-secure default port is also closed. If we need which ports, we need to set them separately. Let's take a look at how to set up the ports. Maybe we need other projects to communicate with the outside world. Then we need to add rules manually. There are two ways to add items. The kind is through the application file name, and the other is through the port number.

We select the "Exceptions" tab, we can click to add the program, for example, we know that MSN Messenger 6.2 connection is safe, all MSN Messenger 6.2 information flow we release, then we click add Program, pop up the following dialog box

We can choose the program we want to add here, but we found that there is no MSN Messenger 6.2 we want to set up, then we click to browse, find the path of the program, select the program

After selecting the program, we found that we have the program we want to set in the Add Program dialog box.

Click OK after selecting the program, so in the program and service bar in the Exceptions tab. More than our default security program, and finally click OK, ICF will not pop up a warning when running the program in the future, the system has confirmed that the program is safe.

But if we set up an FTP service, or a Web service, if we don't set the firewall, it is impossible for us to access it outside because ICF defaults to turn off all the uncertainties for security. Port, let's take the FTP server for example. It is well known that the FTP service defaults to port 21, but ICF closes port 21, then we need to open port 21, the specific method is similar to the setup program, we click add port .

We need to enter the port name, port number, and select the appropriate protocol, then make sure that we have successfully added the port we need, and the system will be released later.

Whenever we set up a program or port, we will see a change scope, so what is it used for? Let's take a look at it

It turns out that by changing the scope, we can implement certain programs or ports that are only accessible to our intranet, or that are accessible to certain computers, and the Internet cannot be accessed casually. The essence is to open certain computers, specific ports, to specific computers, thus controlling access rights. It not only facilitates intranet communication but also effectively ensures the security of the computer.

Let's take a look at the Advanced tab.

Here we can configure the configuration of a connection.

This way we can turn on a particular service for a connection.

In the Advanced tab, we can also monitor the working status of the firewall and generate logs so that we can see the status of the network connection at a glance

The last option is the default setting, here we can The firewall is restored to the default state and is also relatively safe. This time all exceptions will be removed and the manually opened ports will be closed.

When we finally confirm, all settings will take effect. This completes the setting of the firewall. The firewall in SP2 really gave us a lot of surprises. Adding this kind of versatility and simplifying many complicated security rules, the refreshing graphical interface, I believe that the firewall in SP2 will not live up to the expectations of SP2.

After learning about the new features of the firewall, let's take a look at the automatic update. First from Microsoft's official update network
