Upgrade with a metered Internet connection

Computer Store News: Internet connection by flow metering is a type of data plan that some Internet service providers use. In this program, the provider charges a fee based on the amount of data you use (the amount of data sent and received by the computer). Such plans usually have data limitations, and if the limit is exceeded, additional charges may apply, or your connection speed may decrease over time.

Windows 8.1 is a large file: the 32-bit version is about 1.8 GB, and the 64-bit version is about 2.3 GB. Windows RT 8.1 with Microsoft Office is approximately 1.7 GB. Before you start downloading any of these files using a metered Internet connection, be sure to check your current data usage to see if this download may result in additional charges.

Most users with a broadband Internet connection can download within an hour or two, but the download time depends on your computer, connection speed, and other factors. Normally, the download time should be the same as the time to download a movie over the Internet.

Points

Make sure you have enough time to complete the download and do not shut down when you download.
